About Errol

Hi! I’ve been playing TTRPGs since the 1980s, and I still get excited every time I help players dive into a new world—whether it’s a classic D&D setting or something homebrewed and unexpected. But what I truly love isn’t just the adventure... it’s the storytelling. As your GM, I specialize in collaborative, character-driven campaigns where your backstory matters. This isn’t just narrative flavor—your character’s personal history becomes part of the main story. I actively weave your background into world events, faction politics, and long-term story arcs. Even when I run published modules, I treat them like a foundation—not a script. The moment your characters step into the world, it begins to change. --- What Makes My Games Unique In my games: Your backstory shapes your character’s future Choices matter, and consequences ripple outward Known modules evolve into entirely new stories Emotional moments are just as impactful as epic battles --- Real Examples from My Campaigns From my current Tyranny of Dragons campaign: A bard’s forgotten past life ties into a magical flute that glows when she nears ancient dragon-song runes. Visions and hauntings warn of her connection to a prophecy the cult seeks to exploit. A cleric, exiled from her peaceful order, finds the decaying body of a priest from her past—clutching a letter that reveals both corruption in her faith and a hidden connection to a party member’s future. A rogue’s childhood friend is murdered, triggering a sidequest that uncovers a secret assassin and a traitor embedded in a major faction—shaping the campaign’s political web and main villain reveal. If you want a GM who invests in your story and builds a world that remembers your choices, I’d love to run a game for you.

How Errol runs games

My GM style is deeply narrative, emotionally grounded, and character-driven. I don’t just run adventures—I build worlds that evolve based on your choices. Your character’s backstory isn’t a static paragraph from Session Zero; it’s a living part of the story that will re-emerge, reshape, and challenge you as the campaign unfolds. I balance roleplay, exploration, and combat with an emphasis on immersion and consequence. Every decision your party makes has a ripple effect. Whether we’re running a well-known module or diving into homebrew twists, the story will become uniquely yours. Expect: Meaningful character arcs Twists connected to your own history Reactive worldbuilding Dynamic encounters that challenge both mind and dice If you’re a player who loves deep storytelling, cinematic moments, and watching your past choices come back in unexpected ways—I’m the GM for you.

I deal with rules issues by...

I welcome respectful rules discussions and will always listen to your reasoning. I'll consider your perspective alongside how I run the game, then make the ruling I believe best serves the story, the table, and everyone's enjoyment. I ask that players respect those final decisions.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...

Peter Jackson for epic scale, Denis Villeneuve for atmosphere, and Christopher Nolan for layered storytelling where every decision has consequences.

Rules are...

Rules support the story, not the other way around. I use D&D 5e as a foundation but may adjust mechanics for balance, realism, or narrative. Rulings are always made fairly, consistently, and with the goal of creating the best experience for everyone.

Errol's ideal table

My table is built for players who want to become part of a living world rather than simply play through an adventure. I strive to create a cinematic, immersive experience where your decisions have lasting consequences, the world reacts to your actions, and every session feels like another chapter in an epic story. I welcome both new and experienced players. New players will find a patient environment where questions are encouraged and learning the game is part of the adventure. Veteran players can expect meaningful choices, tactical combat, deep roleplay, mysteries to unravel, and a world that won't always follow the pages of a published adventure. Respect, teamwork, and communication are essential at my table. I encourage creative thinking, collaboration, and giving every player an opportunity to shine. Everyone deserves memorable moments, and I work to ensure the story belongs to the entire group. While Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition provides the foundation, I occasionally adapt or expand rules when doing so creates a more logical, immersive, or enjoyable experience. If a rules question arises, I'll always listen to your reasoning and consider it carefully. After hearing everyone's perspective, I'll make the ruling that best serves the game, the story, and the table as a whole. I simply ask that players respect those final decisions so we can keep the adventure moving. One thing you'll notice is that I don't advertise a fixed campaign length. While this adventure is guided by an established module, it isn't confined by one. Player decisions change the direction of the story, introduce new opportunities, and create consequences that no published book can predict. I've run adventures that lasted a single session, a few months, and others that continued for years. The length isn't determined by the module—it's determined by the story we create together and how your actions shape the world. Above all else, I want my table to feel like a group of friends creating an unforgettable story together—one where your choices don't just change your characters, they leave a lasting mark on the Forgotten Realms.

I love it when a player

I love when players become invested in the world. Listen to what NPCs say, question their motives, connect clues, solve puzzles, and think about the consequences of your actions. Very little in my games is meaningless filler. Taking notes is helpful, but using that knowledge to influence the story a

I think min/maxing...

Min/maxing has its place, but I believe a character's weaknesses are often more interesting than their strengths. Some of the greatest moments in D&D come from failure, overcoming adversity, and turning mistakes into stories you'll be telling for years.

My perfect party mix is

I love a mix of new and experienced players. Veterans help newer players by modeling teamwork, roleplay, and creative thinking—not by dominating the table. New players bring fresh perspectives, and I enjoy helping them discover just how much is possible in D&D.
