About GM Ravna

Hello, I am Ravna! I am a queer woman from Norway and I use she/her pronouns. I have played TTRPGs for over 2 years now, and I have GM'ed almost as long. I love the collaborative nature of these kinds of games, and it is important to me that everyone around the table is having fun<3 I run Dungeons & Dragons 5.5e and Vaesen, and you will always meet at least one fey creature in my campaigns. They will be both whimsical and horrible. I love to worldbuild, and think it's super fun when I get to do that together with my players. You wanna build your own hometown, go for it. Does your elf clan have a weird custom? Perfect. You think orcs should be nomads living in yurts and herding axebeaks? Amazing. Give me your ideas. I do run official campaigns in the Forgotten Realms, but if your group would want me to drop the campaign into a homebuilt setting, I am all for it. Vaesen is a newer system for me, but I like to focus on the mystery and the horror element of the vaesen. As a Norwegian, I love Scandinavian folklore, and this game lets me be a nerd while telling good, spooky stories.

I started running games because...

I love to worldbuild and coming up with plots, and then see how my players interact with it and shape it in session.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

DnD, Vaesen and Root

When I'm not running games I'm...

I am either reading a book (Dungeon Crawler Carl is an obsession at the moment), or playing with my frenchie Luna.

How GM Ravna runs games

For DnD, I like to run story-driven campaigns with about 50/50 combat and RP. And I tend to do semi-linear stories with the potential for a lot of side quests if the players are interested in that. I do Rules as Written and Rules as Intended (when the rules are on the fuzzier side). If there are some cool things you think your character should be able to do, talk to me, and we can probably figure something out.

Rules are...

there to make the game fun for everyone. I don't mind breaking them to create an epic moment, but I believe that following the Rules as Written (and Rules as Intended) makes the game fun for everyone at the table. Not just for the loudest players, or those who know how to argue their case.

GM Ravna's ideal table

I want my table to be comfortable and safe. So players who are willing to become friendly with each other and invested in the campaign are what I hope to see. This also means I will kick players who are sexist, racist, trans- or homophobic. We don't do that here. Further, I love a player who is committed to coming to the sessions and ones who will learn their character skills and game mechanics. I am here to help with this, of course, but I promise, the game becomes a lot more fun when you take the time to learn the rules. Speaking of fun, if you are a team player who loves to see your fellow players shine as much as yourself, this is the table for you. Lastly, I like to run both heroic adventures and horror-inspired stories. Because of this, I do not allow people under 18 at my table.

I love it when a player

gets invested in their character, the world, and the story.

My table is not the place for...

murder-hobos and those who work against their party. And if you are racist, sexist, trans- or homophobic, this is not the place for you.
