About Jim
Hi there! I’m Jim and I’m the one in my photo that isn’t a Wookie! Several years ago, I picked up a D&D Starter Set, ran it as a duet for my partner, and fell in love with this incredible hobby! Since then, it has slowly consumed my life: I started GMing at my local game shop, ran a pile of one shots, and now I'm several campaigns deep! I own more PDFs than I could ever get through in a human lifetime and I'm still buying new ones whenever I see something cool. 😅 I’ve also written and run several custom adventures, including a multi-table Epic, and I’m the lead editor and rules contributor for "Echoes of the Veil", a weird-cyberpunk FitD system, which had a successful Kickstarter earlier this year! My current preferred system is Daggerheart, and I’m also still very comfortable running D&D 5e and Pathfinder 2e. I’m really excited by Draw Steel and Fabula Ultima, but I haven't gotten a chance to play them yet (if you want to give them a go, hit me up 😉). I do not use AI-generated content(ChatGPT, Midjourney, etc.) in my games!

When I'm not running games I'm...
Going to pop punk and metalcore shows, biking around Philadelphia, checking out new craft breweries, and playing with my dog!
How Jim runs games
As Bi guy with ADHD, making sure my table is always a safe space for femme, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, and neurodivergent players is a top priority! I love working with you to craft meaningful, character-driven stories; if you give me a backstory hook, you can bet it’ll show up in game! I want every character to feel like a part of the world, with personal stakes, satisfying arcs, and plenty of opportunities to shine. I really enjoy crunchy and tactical combat, but I'm always seduced by the Rule of Cool. I want to see your characters do awesome things, even if it means bending the rules a bit. A player once described my GMing style as "playing with your cool older brother!" My VTT of choice is Owlbear Rodeo, mostly because it's simple, lightweight, and lets me change things up on the fly to react to your choices without having to worry about a bunch of things breaking.

Rules are...
Important for structure and fairness, but they shouldn’t get in the way of a good time.
