I became a GM because
When I was younger, I really wanted to play Dungeons and Dragons. Unfortunately, only 1 to 2 people in my family or among our friends knew how to run it, so my preteen self took up the mantle of dungeon master because if no one else could, I would.
My favorite books are
The King Killer Chronicles! That or Red Raising, their great reads that had me captivated with their world-building. I have been inspiered by them to bring that same level of detail and emersion to my own games.
When I'm not running games I'm...
I am either writing short stories or working a some custom TTRPG projects.
How Gabriel runs games
My Game Master style depends on the game I am running. However, one thing that remains constant is my desire to make you, the player, feel like the star of your show, creating opportunities for your characters to shine. When I am specifically running Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, I meticulously plan several interchangeable encounters so I can adapt to whatever my players come up with. The party is more inclined to combat today, great, I can pivot! My party wants to romance everything that moves in this town. I have something prepared for that. I typically run one combat encounter per session, allowing combat-oriented classes to use all of their tools, while leaving the rest of the session to role play and exploration. When I am running Daggerheart, on the other hand, I thrive on improvisation. After I learned how to create combat encounters on the fly, I was able to run entire adventures with nothing but the core book and some dice. That is not to say I don't prep, far from it, I still create worlds for my players to explore, NPCs for them to interact with, and new game mechanics for them to dig into, but daggerheart is the most fun for every one in my opionion, when a game master has some core set peices and lets the player decide the rest.

I prep by
creating modular encounters that allow me to be adaptable and prepared for whatever my players do. (9 times out of 10, my game is better prepared for my players' shenanigans than I am. (Fantasy war crimes have a way of doing that.)
Rules are...
Tools for consistency, not a law to abide by. Having set rules gives the players a solid understanding of what they can or can't reasonably do; however, a good game master knows any TTRPG can't account for everything, and rules will need to be bent or straight ignored for the sake of everyone's fun.
When it comes to voices
I try to give every NPC a unique voice to make them distinct from each other during dialogue. This has proved invaluable in moments when I'm playing multiple NPCs at once.
Gabriel's ideal table
I like a table with players who enjoy roleplay and character development. Nothing is more fun the being immersed in a world or scene with your friends.

In-depth role play and creative storytelling
I think it's a red flag when players...
When they consistently tell other players how their characters "Should" act, or have a habit of cutting off other players to do what they want. While everyone has done at least one of the two once or twice, when a player makes a habit of it, well, it just rubs me the wrong way.
My table is not the place for...
Murder Hobos. I know some people enjoy it, but I simply don't enjoy running that for that kind of playstyle.
