About French Sensei
Greetings and well met potential adventurers! Whether you're picking up your first set of dice or you're a ten-year veteran, my table is a place for collaborative storytelling and shared adventure. While I am capable of running most styles and tones of games, I prefer a heavy emphasis on roleplaying and immersion with character driven story. I love working with players in character creation so everyone feels genuinely rooted in the world. Regardless of the style of game I am running, I make sure to prioritize player safety by using multiple tools such as Lines and veils, stars and wishes, a safety and consent checklist, and the X-card (Via DM or public chat.) I've been my friend group's go-to Game Master for over five years, and have spent over 10 years on the other side of the GM Screen. I primarily run games on Roll20, though I'm always looking to expand my options - currently exploring Talespire and Foundry VTT to see if either has better options for immersive experiences in game. My main system is D&D 5e, but I recently picked up Daggerheart and the Cosmere TTRPG books and am eager to bring those to the table soon. My love for fiction and adventure started early, exploring worlds through books and games, and now I'm channeling that into the work I want to build my life around: crafting worlds and stories, and running games that invite others in to tell their own. Whether it's a one-shot or a year-long campaign, I'd love to have you at my table.

I started running games because...
I loved my first TTRPG experience so much I couldn't wait to find another GM to run - and that kept on snowballing as I made more characters than I could ever hope to play in campaigns!
When I'm not running games I'm...
When I'm not running games, I'm probably nose-deep in a book or a game, chasing my love of science and fiction through every author, story, and world I can find. More recently I've started building my own world and stories that I hope to one day publish!
How French Sensei runs games
For me, the most important part of the game is the table, and the second is roleplay. One of my favorite parts of being a GM is stepping into dozens of different characters, giving each one their own voice and perspective. That extends to combat: enemies make choices based on what the party says and does, and most creatures aren't fighting to the death just because initiative was rolled. I want players to feel like they can change the world by engaging with it, not just by leveling up a stat block. The rules are a guideline in service of the story — not the other way around.
French Sensei's ideal table
My ideal table treats the game as a shared story experience - we're all building it together, and it runs on communication and respect. I want players who tell me what they need and listen when I or another player does the same. I love when players have a dialogue about the best path forward in the game, and I like that collaboration to continue outside of it too. If something isn't right, we talk about it and adjust. First and foremost, the table should be a safe place for everyone. This is a game meant to be an enjoyable experience, and it should never make anyone actually feel bad or unsafe. We're here to have fun, and at the end of every session, everyone should come away having enjoyed themselves and grown closer as a group.
