About Jeremiah

Hello there Traveller! My name is Jeremiah, a Game Master with 10+ years experience telling tales of gallant heroism, fantastical worlds, daring adventures, and of battle forged fellowship. I specialize in immersive long-form campaigns that blend emotional role play, living worlds, character agency with meaningful consequences, and cinematic boss encounters. I strive to incorporate tactical combat with unique boss mechanics and give space and freedom for vulnerable role play. I am an avid Critical Role fan and the story telling there was fundamental in my early experiences in TTRPG; however, I pull inspiration from a variety of sources including Lord of the Rings, the Sword of Truth series, and other story tellers. I also seek inspiration from True Crime, Mystery novels, music, historical accounts, folklore, and legends. Stories have been told for millennia for a variety of reasons and are filled with purpose. Pulling inspiration from these helps compel action and narrative and pulls players into a world they breathe life into. In my stories you will find magic and wonder, adventure and thrilling combat, intrigue and moral dilemmas, and decisions that will shape the world we play in. If that sounds like you, I hope to see you at the table!

I became a GM because

I wanted to play but could never find a GM to run a table, so I did it myself. While burrowing deep into the rulebooks, podcasts, and guides, I found myself dreaming of story beats and locations... and then I started writing and I could never stop finding reasons to add to the story.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Working on my own sourcebooks and supplements, teaching, or hunting for new inspiration in games, movies, and books.

How Jeremiah runs games

Throughout my campaigns you will find character driven story lines incorporated into the larger narrative, a sense of exploration and life in the world, and conflict born of morals, player choice, and consequences. At my table, tactical combat is important but story and role play are paramount and it all starts with you, the players. I select a campaign theme, module or home brew, and consult with my players what kind of story that they want to tell. I then take their backstories and see how it can be woven into and affect the world. From there, I begin to framework the story I want to present to the players and allow them to breathe life into it. I look to build an immersive experience at the table, something that we can all get lost in. I score table specific music for each campaign I run so that players have a rallying moment in their own anthem and cinematic background when roleplaying. Artwork is also common at my table, a strong foundation for subsequent role play and imagery to fill in. In addition, you will find cities and NPCs that are fleshed out and as lively as the world we build together. Characters you will love and some you will love to hate, and some who may even tag along for the occasional adventure!

My games focus on...

story and crafting narrative through collaboration. Crunch combat is super rewarding and has its place at my table; however, role play and the relationships between characters and narrative is where our games shine the brightest.

Rules are...

both specific and also guidelines. I follow rules as written but will allow the rule of cool to take over for earned narrative beats. Our characters and stories are epic and it's okay to let them out shine the rules on occasion.

When it comes to voices

there is more to making them distinct than accents. Adding a certain speech pattern, a small flavor, or other nuances can make characters spring to life. If you can, it's amazing; if it doesn't interest you, it's no loss. The essential bits lie in the role play.

Jeremiah's ideal table

At my table you will find a warm and welcoming inclusive environment where all facets of the game have their moments to shine. Players of all levels are welcome at the table. I love adding my own spin on modules and existing campaigns as well as tailoring the narrative to the players so that they feel like they're living in the world. Each player has their own contribution to the overall story and experiences the world differently. My table's aim is to make the story and combat reflect that.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

emotional role play, tactical combat, and cinematic encounters

I love it when a player

takes bold swings. Bringing risk to the table always brings opportunity for deep character moments. Whether that's making a bold social interaction in a big narrative moment or using spells in an unexpected way in combat, it keeps the entire table on their toes and is incredibly fun!

I think min/maxing...

has it's place but if done wrong can detract from the overall role play experience. Personally, I find flawed characters and story driven stats far more interesting; however, min/max certainly has its place and can be done very well.
