Hi. I’m David aka Evil Penguin. When I was 11 years old, an older neighbor kid told me how cool this book he was reading was called Lord of the Rings. So, I read it myself. At that age, this was the first adult novel I had ever read. By the time I finished the series, I knew that all I wanted to do in life was tell stories half as good as that story. That same neighbor kid and I started playing D&D together and I’ve not looked back since. I went on to study creative writing in college before eventually ending up working professionally in the film industry (that’s my day job). So, a lot of what I bring to the table comes from years of thinking about storytelling, pacing, character moments, when to build and release tension, and creating memorable experiences for an audience. As a GM, my focus is simple: I want everyone to have fun and feel like they were an active part of an incredible story. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please let me know. Try out a session. Players of all experience levels are welcome at my table. I run an inclusive, LGBTQ+ friendly table where respect for everyone is mandatory. It’s good to know that apparently I’m doing something right because most of my players end up coming back for future campaigns and I’ve had many IRL tables that have run for years with the same players. How EvilPenguin runs games

My number one rule is that it’s a game and it’s supposed to be fun above everything else. I run games that balance roleplay, exploration, and combat. Some sessions are a desperate survival. Some sessions require a large amount of time chatting with NPCs. Some sessions are just exploring the land one hex at a time. I believe that every player deserves moments where their character MATTERS. In long campaigns, the spotlight naturally shifts from session to session, task to task, but everyone gets opportunities to shine, influence the story, and leave their mark on the world. I’ve been telling stories my whole life and have made a career out of it. I know the power of feeling truly immersed, engaged, and excited to come back every week to spend more time with your favorite character as they try to shape the world around them. In my games, the best moments happen when there are real life and death consequences for characters. If your character comes through the other side of a battle that they felt was unwinnable and then a joke comes across from an NPC, those moments stay with you.
