I love epic stories! D&D put me on my career path when I was young. I don't think there's any better way to develop one's creative abilities than playing this game. Everyone should experience the magic of D&D! I'm an illustrator, animator, story artist, business owner, husband, and dad. I've lived on three different continents and I speak three languages and currently reside in South America with my family. If you want a GM that has real-life experience to bring to the table and unending enthusiasm to play D&D -- then I might be the right fit for you!

I got started GMing...

As a 10-year-old borrowing my older brother's worn AD&D Player's Handbook. We had a party of 2: me and my best friend Ben. Didn't get a Dungeon Master's Guide for years. Didn't need one!

My favorite books are

For fantasy (besides LotR) my favorites are the original Crystal Shard Trilogy by R.A. Salvatore. Love those things. Really fun, mostly light-hearted adventure romps.

My favorite shows/movies are

I'm a simple guy - give me the Marvel movies up until Infinity War, the original Lord of the Rings, and anything else that is a fun adventure with lots of action. I appreciate any well-told story, however, and will watch anything that isn't too intense, graphic, or filled with foul language.

How Epic Mike runs games

If my GM brand were a movie it would be a Marvel movie, Lord of the Rings movie, or Pirates of the Caribbean movie: lots of action, a reasonable dose of drama, some light romance, some light horror or weirdness but nothing too crazy, lots of comedy, amazing locations and natural beauty, a great villain, a memorable cast of characters, and a storyline that is worth investing your real life into. I do my best to provide a good, well-balanced game experience that lights up your imagination and keeps you wanting more!

My games focus on...

I have a few different "products" I offer. The Spells & Tactics series are combat-centric one-shots made for people that love tactical puzzles and the "story" of combat. I hope to soon offer campaigns as well! Campaigns will be more story-rich and well-balanced.

Rules are...

Not gonna lie I'm a rulings over rules GM. I stick to the rules as much as possible, but when it's not possible, I try to make a fair ruling and often let the dice tell the story.

When it comes to voices

I have quite a variety, do my best, and will even rehearse and learn new accents when needed. I enjoy it, but never expect or require my players to use voices.

Epic Mike's ideal table

My ideal table is fun, engaging, gives each person time to shine, and touches your heart frequently because you're a hero doing hero-things. I do like a table that has consequence, however. Not every night will be peachy keen, and I try to let the dice tell the stories and deliver any bad news. Recovering from loss, heartache, or setback is part of the hero's journey. Without the lows, the highs just aren't the same.
