About me

Hey, I'm Paul a 50 yr old gamer in Ohio, hailing from Cleveland. I run a variety of TTRPGs these days but I have been running Classic Traveller RPG for almost 30 years on and off. I truly life the clean simplicity of the 2d6 mechanic and the skill system in Classic Travelller. I also happen to be partial to a sort of grim and gritty sci fi to which the early edition of the game really lends itself. I run mostly using the Little Black Books 1-3 from the basic set, which are available on Drive Thru. This game is great for one-shots or campaigns. I also run BX/BECMI D&D and related clones most notably Old School Essentials which I have been using since it was called B/X Essentials. I favor the Classic Rules Tome for this. Other OSR games like Star Frontiers, Metamorphosis Alpha, Cyberpunk 2020 as well as some old school 90's games like TORG are options on my roster. The newer games I am looking to run include related stuff like TORG Eternity, Cyberpunk Red, Dune, and others... I do also dabble in design and I run a mean session of post apocalyptic, home brewed Fudge RPG. (Bring your Fate dice because we roll for real in my games*) So I am into trippy sci fi and apocalyptic stuff but I also like setting agnostic systems and am willing to run something in almost any setting using GURPS, Fudge/FATE, True20, Cepheus Modern, Masterbook, or any of a few other generic universe engines. My games are usually pretty serious in tone and dark in content, but I also definitely provide an accompanying degree of dark, sometimes wacky out-of-game humor during sessions. The game content can be bleak, or explore complicated socio-philosophical, moral or political ideas and still be fun, enjoyable, or relaxing. I sort of depends upon what a group is looking for and I really try to accommodate group chemistry to the same degree that I impose my own preferences. By mixing these two elements I find a lot of different experiences at the table and the flexible side serves me as well as the personal style I bring imho. ~ I hope to see you on a jitsi screen and blow your characters up with a car bomb while spraying them with automatic gunfire from a nearby rooftop. Enjoy! ~Paul

GM Style

Somewhat free form depending upon the demands of the system. I definitely discourage wacky, silly, gonzo game play without discouraging table jokes and shit talking. Any game that I run that is not expressly for kiddos is usually serious in tone and content. There have been exceptions over the years. I'd love to run Toon some time but I think I could darken even that. When I run online I do a largely theater-of-the-mind experience, so sorry to those who like their online TTRPG to be more like a computer game. There are plenty of those kinds of GMs out there if that's what you're looking for. I DO try to only use systems for online gaming that I believe will lend themselves to an immersive T of the M experience and not get bogged down in moving tokens around during combat or exploration phases. I am not a huge role-player but I do flesh out my NPCs, often with voices or accents. I plan to be using my own music for paid games to lend to the originality of my offerings. I have been doing ambient/noise/techno and other similar stuff for years so you can expect something very different than the usual ren-fair flutes or free-use space music. I love to experiment and to try new systems, games and settings. Feel free to email me anytime and put Disturbing Clocks in the subject! Hope to jam with you soon!
