About Emerald Artifice
Welcome to the workshop! As a GM, I always strive to run my games with what I like to call a "TV Sim" vibe, stories that feel like the media that inspires our imaginations. My campaigns weave in the hallmark tropes of their respective genres with character-focused storytelling that keeps my players excited for the next episode. My goal is for my players and I to become genuine fans of the heroes we create together. I take special care to weave each character directly into the narrative so they feel like the main characters in a dynamic world that evolves around them. I also prioritize a respectful, collaborative table culture built on safety, communication, and trust, ensuring every player feels welcome, supported, and excited to help shape the story. If you want to be anything from a vampire hunter in a Gothic Victorian cityscape, to a tough-as-nails desperado in a Weird Western frontier, my campaigns are for you! I’ve been running games for over a decade! Along with D&D 5e, I have also run many campaigns using Powered by the Apocalypse systems, including Apocalypse World, Masks, Blades in the Dark, Monsterhearts, and Perfect Draw. Whether you’re seeking heartfelt character arcs filled with angst and love, awesome action and daring heroics, dramatic twists and devious villains, or just a world that feels truly alive, I craft my campaigns to thrill, surprise, and celebrate the characters at the table. If you want adventures that feel like your new favorite show, then let's get the cameras rolling!

I got started GMing...
because when an idea has lived in your mind for long enough you simply MUST find a way to share it with your friends!
My favorite system of all Time is
the terrible Sonic the Hedgehog fan character TTRPG I made when I was 13 that had no consistent rules and unironically used drawing the "Cool S" symbol as a game mechanic. A beautiful trash fire.
When I'm not running games I'm...
LARPing! That and TTRPGs are probably my main interests. I was dressing up as warriors and wizards and swinging foam swords long before I ever picked up the dice.
How Emerald Artifice runs games
I design my campaigns to reward the playstyles, strengths, and passions of the people at my table. Every player comes into a game excited about different things, whether it’s deep character roleplay, high-stakes tactical combat, puzzle solving, exploration, big cinematic moments, and more, I do my best to make sure each of those interests has room to shine. If someone is a roleplay powerhouse but less confident with mechanics, I’ll give them rich social encounters, emotional scenes, and character-driven choices to challenge and excite them without making them feel overwhelmed. If another player wants to be an unstoppable combat monster, I’ll throw unforgettable foes and epic set pieces at them, so they can show off just how powerful and badass their character truly is! Before a campaign begins, I ask each player for a three-item Wish List, things they hope their character gets to do, achieve, or gain. Over the course of the story, I do my best to make those wishes come true, weaving them into the narrative so everyone has their time in the limelight. As a DM, I love intense roleplay, meaningful character relationships, and awesome, cinematic combat that feels like an action movie. I’m all about sweeping emotion, big revelations, stylish heroics, and scenes you’ll remember for years. All tabletop games have elements of downtime, and it's my philosophy to keep downtime efficient and spend most of our time doing the cool stuff you signed up for!

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
Edgar Wright and Michael Bay fist fighting in a Wendy's parking lot.
My games focus on...
cinematic scenes and deep character exploration! If you want to have a duel to the death with your traitorous yet still beloved twin sibling with the fate of the kingdom on the line, then hop right in!
Rules are...
the way that the characters and players understand the world to usually work. They're a way to help a player understand the possible dangers and rewards of their choices.
Emerald Artifice's ideal table
My ideal table is filled with players who are just as much a fan of one another's characters as their own, and can play off the #vibes of a scene according to its theme and genre. I love running for players with varying areas of expertise in tabletops, from intense roleplayers to people who love a good fight.

I think min/maxing...
is totally fine! As long as the character that is created uses their min/maxed stats in an interesting narrative way, I'm all for it.
