About ELH
I'm a veteran GM of over 12 years with major focus on narrative and roleplay over hard "crunch". I started with D&D 4E, and over the years have played or run nearly every major system out there. My "pedigree" can be found on YouTube/Twitch where I've been posting my game sessions ever since 2017. Mindflayers love me, min-maxers fear me.

I got started GMing...
...Way back when I was a Junior in college. I ran D&D 4e adventures in person every week aside from when exams were happening, eventually moving onto virtual GMing as time went on.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Likely streaming, editing, writing, or planning my next session. Very little downtime here outside of acts of god!
How ELH runs games
My games focus on the narrative and roleplay first and foremost. Mechanics can help inform the story and make the stakes/risk interesting, but rule of cool goes far in my games. I believe it's my responsibility as a GM to teach whatever system I happen to be running, and to give everyone at the table a chance to contribute in their own unique way.

My games focus on...
...Characters, Growth moments, and an overarching narrative crafted by GM and player alike!
Rules are...
...Meant to help facilitate and make play more exciting, not restrict creative thinking (within reason). For example, in all my Star Trek games, a coherent string of technobabble will get you further than just rolling dice!
When it comes to voices
...I try my best while cycling through (bad) Sean Connery, (bad) Slavic, and (terrible) French. Also Mickey Mouse on rare occasions!
ELH's ideal table
I like to encourage an open, respectful environment where every player has an opportunity to contribute in whatever manner suits them. The spotlight moves between players frequently, and even during party splits I make sure no one's left with too much downtime. My goal is to facilitate roleplay, not rollplay. Min-maxers, Rules Lawyers, and Disrespectful players are encouraged to seek other tables.

I love it when a player
...Says "Okay, this might seem like a dumb question..." Like, no, I live for those kinds of questions! Ask away!
I think metagaming...
...Can be a valuable tool depending on the setting and system. But reading ahead in a published adventure so you can "stumble" onto the best loot and gear? That's not cool.
