About João Victor

Hey there! I’m Victor, a Brazilian GM who’s head-over-heels with storytelling, creating characters in Skyrim, and choices that actually matter. I’ve been playing and running TTRPGs for years now, and I’ve gotta say, bringing people together around a shared story as the GM is one of my favourite things. When I'm DMing a game, I really focus on pulling everyone into the world. I want players to feel comfortable jumping in, taking risks, and shaping the story alongside me. Pacing, tone, and making sure everyone gets their moment in the spotlight are paramount. I love it when a table feels collaborative, welcoming, and driven by the story, but I also respect the rules, because they’re what make those clutch rolls feel earned. Curse of Strahd has a special place in my heart. I’ve been running it for about three years now, for different groups online and in person, so Barovia kind of feels like a second home. I love digging into its gothic horror, its tragic characters, and that slow-burn sense of dread. Every group makes it feel new, though—I always adapt the story to fit the players while keeping that emotional, haunting vibe alive. Having been a player for so long really shapes how I GM. Communication, player agency, and trust at the table mean everything to me. The best moments come when everyone feels safe to help build the story together.

Hopelessly falling in love with Karlach in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How João Victor runs games

Honestly, the games I love running are all about the characters you bring to the table. I want you to feel like the hero of your own epic—or, just as compelling, someone haunted by a past they can’t outrun. The real magic for me starts with your character’s secrets, their scars, and what they dream of. That stuff doesn’t just add flavour, it turns a fun night into a story we’ll talk about for ages. When characters feel real, and their relationships matter, every campaign becomes something unique. I primarily run D&D 5e, and I use a set of house rules that may be added depending on the group and the story we want to tell. I’m a firm believer that roleplay comes first, and if the rules ever need a little bending or tweaking to let a great moment shine, I’m more than happy to do so. The game should work for us, not the other way around. That philosophy is reflected in the house rules I like to use: ✨ A starting feat at 1st level, helping characters feel unique from the very beginning 🎲 Critical Role Ability Score rolls style using 5d6, dropping the lowest two, with a minimum total of 72 and a maximum of 82 👥 A flanking rule that grants a +2 bonus to melee attack rolls ⚗️ Drinking potions as either an Action or a Bonus Action If you have an idea for a custom rule or a character concept that needs a little mechanical love, I’m always open to talking it through and making it fit naturally into the table. And I'll admit, I'm a total sucker for the cinematic side of things. I love setting a scene with a little description, using maps to pull us into the world, and giving those big spell moments extra flair. For me, those touches help turn the story in our heads into something we can all really feel. Therefore, my tables are run on Foundry VTT. Because of the virtual tabletop, my sessions are: ⚙️ An automated platform with tools that improve the responsiveness of spells, abilities, and other mechanics. 🗺️ Animated maps and cinematic cutscenes that introduce and enrich each scene. 📌 Rule accuracy and consistency are ensured by the VTT so that we can focus on play rather than bookkeeping. When it comes to voices

I go all in. I genuinely love playing with accents, tones, and little mannerisms to give NPCs their own flavour and make them feel alive at the table. Since English isn’t my first language, I stay within what I’m comfortable with, but I treat that as part of the fun rather than a limitation.

João Victor's ideal table

My ideal table would be all about balance and energy. Roleplay, combat, and storytelling share the spotlight, and the goal is always to keep the game engaging and fun for everyone. The general vibe is immersive but relaxed, a place where players feel comfortable jumping into character, joking around, and then locking in when the scene gets serious. Players who fit well at my table enjoy interacting with the world and the people in it. I love giving NPCs distinct voices and personalities, and I encourage players to talk, ask questions, and make bold choices. Combat is tactical and meaningful, but I also trust the dice. Sometimes you make the best decision you can, roll, and let the outcome shape the story. At my table, we value: 📖 Immersive storytelling that keeps the plot moving ♥️ A love for roleplay and character moments ⏱️ Punctuality and respect for everyone’s time 🤝 Real interactions with NPCs that feel natural and alive 🫂 A safe, welcoming space for all players ♟️ Tactical and challenging combat where choices matter The atmosphere is friendly, inclusive, and collaborative. This is a table for players who like being involved, supporting each other, and building a story together. If you enjoy a mix of roleplay, smart combat, and a table with good energy, you’ll fit right in.
