About Richard

Hi! I’m Richard, a Lisbon-based Game Master with a deep love for fantasy, storytelling, and immersive adventures. Though I’ve been GMing for under a year, I’ve already run multiple ongoing campaigns and play-by-post games for a mix of new and experienced players. I discovered Dungeons & Dragons after a lifetime of reading fantasy (I’ve read and own over 600 books which yes its a bit of a problem)—and once I fell into the world of TTRPGs, I never looked back. I really enjoy high fantasy adventures with dark themes, horror elements, and moments of comic relief to keep things human and fun. My goal is always to create rich, engaging experiences tailored to my players, with a strong focus on roleplay, worldbuilding, and memorable encounters. I’m fluent in both English and Portuguese, always available for quick replies and open communication, and committed to providing a welcoming, responsive, and player-focused table. I’m now transitioning into professional GMing—and I plan to give it everything I’ve got to make sure every session is unforgettable.

My favorite books are

I’m a huge fan of a plethora of genres, but fantasy is by far my favorite. Some of the series I love most include Cycle of the Werewolf, Mistborn, The Lord of the Rings, The Stormlight Archive, The Wheel of Time, Blood Dragon Empire, and A Song of Ice and Fire there are too many to name them all!

How Richard runs games

My sessions blend open-ended exploration with high-stakes, tactical combat. I prepare carefully and bring the world to life through detailed maps and visuals, letting players feel like they’re part of something real. Roleplay is encouraged and balanced with mechanics—I aim to give players the freedom to shape the story while keeping challenges meaningful. If you enjoy a mix of freedom, danger, and immersive worldbuilding, you’ll feel right at home at my table.

I deal with rules issues by...

making a quick call to keep the session moving, then looking it up after. If it’s close, I’ll usually side with what makes the scene cooler.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...

Guillermo del Toro for the monsters, Peter Jackson for the scope, and Quentin Tarantino for the unexpected chaos.

Richard's ideal table

At my table, storytelling comes first—but actions have consequences. I create immersive worlds full of intrigue, danger, and dramatic twists. I welcome players who enjoy roleplaying, strategic combat, and meaningful choices. New players are absolutely welcome, as long as they’re ready to engage. That said, I won’t hesitate to kill a character if the dice or their decisions lead that way. Tension is real, and heroism is earned. If you're looking for a game where your choices matter and your victories feel earned, you're in the right place.

I love it when a player

cares. When they take the time to think about what I’ve built, consider what their character would truly do, and act with purpose. When they hand me a backstory that shows heart and effort. I put a lot of time into preparing and running these games, and seeing that level of investment from players i

I think min/maxing...

I think min-maxing is totally fine as long as you're still playing the character — like if your character would make those choices and it makes sense in the world, go for it. Just don't sacrifice roleplay or story for the sake of pure mechanics.
