About GM Kevin
Hello. My name is Kevin and I love being a GM! I have been playing and running games for most of my life. I started with Advanced D&D 2nd Edition when I was in middle school. I read all the books my brother owned and would try to run games for my friends and family. I later picked up HeroQuest when it came out and played for years homebrewing my own content and monsters and treasures. Once I was a bit older I picked up the 3rd Edition of D&D and played for years until I took a break. Came back into running games again when Fifth Edition came out. I’ve been running games practically every week since. Other than Dungeons and Dragons I’m a big fan of Arkham Horror, Video Games (Nintendo Fan and big RPG fan) and I’ve been playing Magic the Gathering since 1995. Roleplaying games and GMing have been such a big part of my life. Allowing me to be more creative and helped me become more social. My goal is to sit down with everyone I know and get them to play one time because I think these games are for everyone. Thanks for reading!

I became a GM because
My brother let me look through his stack of D&D books but we always had trouble finding someone to run the games. So I decided I wanted to learn. I became hooked and have been running games ever since.
I got started GMing...
When I was in middle school I would run very simple games of Dungeons and Dragons. I continued GMing and practicing with the original release of HeroQuest. I know I didn’t understand all of the rules but I enjoyed creating stories with my friends.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Building or playing Magic: the Gathering. A big board game fan as well. I am a big video game fan. I play all types of games. Sometimes I will find time to paint miniatures too.
How GM Kevin runs games
I like to run games with a roughly equal amount of combat and roleplaying. Often I will adjust the game to what the group seems to enjoy the most. Roleplaying is always encouraged but it is not required. I never force players out of their comfort zone with how they want to play. I want everyone to have fun.

I once ran a session...
That lasted almost 18 hours. We were trying to do a 24 hour stream. We made it 18 hours and I’m proud of how far we got.
My games focus on...
Telling stories. I want the players to do all the fun and cool things. If I see an opportunity to make a character look even cooler than they imagined, I will do that. It’s not my story solely. It’s our story. You’re all the main characters.
Rules are...
A good guideline. I like to play by the rules as intended but sometimes you have to think outside of the box and just rule how it makes the most sense or feels the most fair.
GM Kevin's ideal table
At my table I like everyone to have a good time. The vibe I would say is about having fun. I'm a pretty easy going Game Master. People who enjoy helping their teammates and fellow players will end up having the most fun. I love playing with players of all experience levels, but I always have a more casual table. There are serious moments in the stories sometimes and definitely some emotional moments, but mostly I want everyone to be themselves and have fun telling a story with the rest of us.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
If you're into horror, I try to add some horror elements into the game. I'm a big fan of horror stories and honestly some of these monsters can be terrifying.
My perfect party mix is
one that has a little bit of everything. Players who like to do all types of things. Combat, roleplay and puzzles.
My table is not the place for...
Rules lawyers and those who want to try to win the game. I always try to adhere to the rules as intended, but players who try to power game or beat the game with the rules will not have much fun.
