About Dash

My name is Dash Kwiatkowski, and I am an award-winning TTRPG Writer (I was on the team for Paizo's Tian Xia World Guide) as well as an award winning Paranormal Investigator (you can watch my queer ghost hunting show "Liminal" on Tubi and Fawesome.tv). I have been on stage since I was 12-13 years old, playing music and acting in school theater, and I have loved tabletop roleplaying games since I was a weird, lonely child rolling up characters with my 3.5 edition PHB regardless of the fact that I did not have people to play D&D with! I've been DMing for most of my adult life, starting earnestly with the several year running actual play podcast "Lost in the Multiverse," where we featured guests like Ray Wise (Robocop), Janet Varney (Avatar: Legend of Korra) and more. My DMing style leans more cinematic, and is roleplay heavy, and I love nothing more than creating elaborate plots integrating the backstories of my players. I also tend to lean comedic, as I spent over a decade as a professionally touring stand up comedian, though I tend to lean away from a campaign that is PURELY comedic.

I started running games because...

I wanted to start playing dnd and my friend and co-producer for the show was "focused on making content" so we decided to start an actual-play, and I was the only one who was up to DM. This is my origin story, and it is why I DM the style that I do!

People are always surprised when I tell them

That I basically only ever play gnomes! I don't know why, I've just had a fondness for Gnomes from the very beginning of my TTRPG journey and it never went away.

When I'm not running games I'm...

An award winning Paranormal investigator! Ask where you can find my Queer Paranormal Investigation show! Oddly, I haven't run as much horror as you might think, and ghost stories aren't featured that much in my games!

How Dash runs games

My games are very roleplay heavy, but in a manner that seeks to encourage newer players to be comfortable roleplaying. My background in stand up comedy means that my table is one where joking is encouraged, although I strive to not have this devolve into a scenario where it doesn't feel like any of the narrative stakes are still there. I love to homebrew a world from scratch, creating factions and histories from whole cloth, where players can explore and discover the stories that they are excited to participate in telling. I also will often follow the "rule of cool," so if you can present a strong argument as to why a rule-as-written should be bent for your very specific circumstance, I am always happy to listen. Overall, I like a friendly and playful tabletop environment that players new and experienced and can enjoy.

Rules are...

Mostly really good and sometimes require bending/breaking if the story calls for it! This applies to rules as written in sourcebooks, and not code-of-conduct rules agreed to by players at the table, those rules are ironclad!

Dash's ideal table

My table is light-hearted when it needs to be, serious when the situation calls for it, and focused on keeping the narrative. I love players of all ranges of experience, from brand new, to veteran, as long as they are respectful of one-another, and open to really committing to telling a story. It can be silly, serious, emotional, (hopefully all of the above, at various moments), but my table puts real value on trusting one another with the story we're telling together.
