About Ira

I first picked up Dungeons & Dragons back in 1982, starting with the classic Moldvay Basic Set (red or blue box—I honestly can’t remember anymore!) and soon graduated to AD&D. I played all through high school and college, taking a long break afterward until the 5th Edition revival during the pandemic pulled me back in. What began as a small online game of Lost Mine of Phandelver for a friend quickly grew into a regular group with his brother and my cousin. We’ve been playing together almost every week ever since. Over time, I’ve mixed Lost Mine with Dragon of Icespire Peak, weaving player backstories into the core story for a more personalized campaign. I’ve also run a dark fantasy homebrew set in a friend’s world, and most recently, I DM'd Storm King’s Thunder (to completion). My strengths as a DM lie in blending prewritten adventures with homebrew storytelling, keeping the rules clear and consistent, and fostering collaborative, character-driven narratives. I’m dedicated to creating an engaging, cooperative experience where everyone at the table contributes to the story and walks away with great memories. Whether it’s classic sword-and-sorcery, grounded realism, or high-heroic fantasy, I love helping players tell stories that feel alive and personal.

My favorite books are

1. LOTR- cliche? perhaps...still Tolkien had a huge impact on my childhood as you can see from my banner. 2. The Three Pillars of Zen- what can I say? I'm philosophical. 3. Henry V- So I was an english teacher I you can't beat shakespeare (also Macbeth and Hamlet).

How Ira runs games

My games balance exploration, roleplay, and combat, giving players plenty of chances to shine in different ways. I enjoy creating interesting moral dilemmas and story choices that matter — not to punish or trick players, but to make the world feel real and reactive. I design each session as a series of scenes or situations, not a railroaded story. There’s never a single “right” path forward; instead, I prepare multiple possible outcomes and let your character choices drive the narrative. Expect a mix of immersive storytelling, tactical challenges, and genuine collaboration. My goal is to create adventures that feel alive — where decisions have weight, victories feel earned, and everyone at the table helps shape the story we tell together.

When it comes to voices

I love to do them.. not always perfectly but often to the amusement of my players. I encourage players to try a voice if they want to, but it's totally cool if you don't.
