About DM Drej (Andrew)

Hi! My name is Andrew and I've been playing tabletop RPGs since the 90's. I was a theater kid, advancing to public speaking in college and now I teach wild mushroom identification for a living. I run an in-person game with a small group of friends going on 4 years of active play spread out through multiple home-brew campaigns and characters. I love telling stories together with people, and I love teaching new players. I'd love to tell some stories with YOU, so jump into one of my campaigns or one shots. The bards shall sing of our great deeds forevermore! My games are a safe place for everyone! YOU are welcome at this table.

People are always surprised when I tell them

I live in Ohio.

When I'm not running games I'm...

In the woods, hunting for edible mushrooms and plants. I also do some fishing and gardening.

How DM Drej (Andrew) runs games

As a GM I enjoy describing using senses; "you smell something foul..." or "the warmth of the water tickles the underside of your foot...". I enjoy the technical mechanics of the Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition system. My games favor both tactics and statistics equally. I highly value a players autonomy and full authority over the thoughts/feelings of their character. I enjoy the treat of death in games that are appropriate to have such themes. I love to provide space for players to have emotional scenes of drama between themselves or with NPC's.

DM Drej (Andrew)'s ideal table

My table is filled with the glorious destined. Those that have found a greater purpose by telling a story together. Sometimes these destined are making fart jokes, sometimes they are weeping as they say goodbye for the last time. The majority of the time, these glorious players are overcoming obstacles and persevering through difficulties. My table is organic. Players who sit at my table should expect something heartfelt, rich like the soil, and full of social nutrition that everyone can enjoy. I write every word in my campaigns, develop each stat block, and form NPCs from dust into full characters. My table is safe. Everyone has something. Much like the player's characters and NPC in our games, overcoming our adversities are essential to life. At my table, we accept each others differences and make space for those struggling. I often struggle with mental health, my players have provided space for me to heal myself with stories. Everyone who sits at my table will be given the same grace.

I love it when a player

Tries something crazy or puts pieces together.

I think min/maxing...

is only appropriate for the "Animal Handling" skill.

My table is not the place for...

Harm in any aspect. Not to you, me, the world, or our game.
