About Deathly Shad

My name is Deathly Shad online, and I have been running a successful DND game for the past four years that is still currently ongoing. My players are enjoying the world that I have built and the storyline that I have provided for them, as well as the choices they have been able to make in order to advance the storyline, and affect the world around them. If you wanna watch said game, then you can do so here at my Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@exstreamgamer I am a GM that likes to give his players an unforgettable experience, and tell a co-operative story with my players so everyone leaves the table satisfied with the ending. I have amazing improvisational skills, so I am hardly ever caught off guard by things players might try and do, or if I am I can easily and efficiently deal with said actions. I have GMed two successful Westmarch style servers over the years, and multiple long running campaigns. I wouldn't be a GM on here otherwise if I didn't believe I was good at what I did. I like to keep things light hearted and fluffy, but can easily go fairly dark as needed or desired by my players. I am respectful of any lines or veils that my players have, and am always open for discussion after a game is over about any issues my players had during said game. You will never offend me by having an issue with how I ran something or a particular storyline that I am attempting to tell. It is my earnest belief that everyone should be having fun at my table.

I became a GM because

I wanted to tell stories with people, and share with them a piece of my world. I wanted to have epic adventures, and share in the emotional highs and lows that came with all of that.

My favorite system of all Time is

Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition. While certainly not the most glamorous system, or complex system, its simplicity is what I love the most about it. I love having such a large knowledge base surrounding it that I can generally create rulings and feats on the fly with minimal thought.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Gaming, usually playing League or whatever Rogue-Like happens to have my attention at the time. Generally vibing and chilling as one often does when not in a game. I do some roleplay, Pathfinder 2E, and a couple DND games.

How Deathly Shad runs games

What my players can expect from my games is a grand story with fairly high stakes, and lots of roleplay and various NPC interactions. They can expect to be the main characters of said story, and while they may not be the strongest in the world setting to begin with, they can always get up to that level of power. My players are often given lots of interesting magical items, or abilities that help their specific characters fullfill their character fantasy all the better. As an example of this, I gave my Rains of Vitrium necromancer the ability to summon forth a very strong undead that eventually became sentient, and now no longer needs to be maintained by him. My players should also expect lots of roleplay opportunities. I really enjoy doing roleplay with characters and having their minds change or ideas develop along a fairly long period of time. I also do a lot of focus on character arcs, and how they relate to the story as a whole, and take player feedback on where they want the story to go. I hardly ever say "No" to an idea that I think could be interesting to play out, assuming the rest of the party is okay with it. I also respect everyone's lines and veils, and will never cross one when it's placed before me. Or if I have something that might I will discuss it with the player privately before implementing it in game. Nothing feels worse than signing up for one type of game, but getting something entirely different that you don't want and is traumatizing. So I won't.

I deal with rules issues by...

Bringing things to the table. I try and make a ruling that is fair for everyone as quickly as I can, to maintain the games momentum, and table further discussion for after session. I then make an effort to bring my interpretation of a ruling to my players for further discussion, and decisions.

My games focus on...

Roleplay between characters, Story-telling, and player driven choices that influence the story and how it unfolds. I want people to leave my game thinking about and craving for the next session.

Rules are...

Important up to a point. Sometimes there isn't an exact ruling for a situation, and that's when ya gotta improvise. Rules aren't the be all and all of the game system, but there to help the game run. You can always discard a rule if it conflicts with what you and your players are wanting to do.

Deathly Shad's ideal table

My table style is a mixture of improvisation, storytelling, roleplay, and character choices. I am a fairly transparent GM that is always more than willing to hear what my players wanna say or do during a game, and possibly implement those things into the game itself. I value fun and creative freedom among my players, as well as excitement, and curiosity. I want my players to want to be part of the story and the group as they travel from place to place within my campaigns. Everyone is welcome at my table from furries to LGBTQIA+ individuals, and all those in between regardless of DND experience. I take on beginners, advanced players, and intermediate players of all walks of life, and aim to give them all an unforgettable experience. My main campaigns and one off interests take place within fantasy settings of my own creation that have been proven and ran for multiple other groups before hand. I love good comedy, romance, and the occasional tragedy as well. My villains are typically grey in nature and can maybe be empathized with from a different light or turned into allies if cards are played right. Redemption is a big theme I love to play with in my games. I love making people laugh, and cry in genuine and heartfelt ways, rather than cheap ones. Most every character has a side they don't show that you are more than free to discover at your own leisure.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

If you are into Roleplay, then you are going to love my table. Roleplay has always been my strongest suit, and what I love to do. People that come to my table should expect a healthy amount of roleplay, compassion, and joy for the game and the story being told.

I love it when a player

I love it when a player actively engages with my story and my NPC's. I want players that are curious about the world, and want to learn more, and unravel things. I like curiosity and interactivity from my players.

My table is not the place for...

Assholes, jerks, and dickheads. If you're going to intentionally squish someone's fun, or discriminate, or hate, then I don't want ya at my table. I want people to be chill and have fun, and if your fun requires someone else to suffer? Then out ya go bud.
