About Pieter
My name is Pieter, and I've been living and breathing tabletop RPGs for over 20 years — from cramped kitchen tables to virtual tabletops with players across the globe. The moment I picked up the DM screen, I knew I'd found my calling. I'm an empath first, Dungeon Master second. That means I read the table, make sure every voice is heard, and create a space where you tell the story — I just build the world around it. Whether you've never rolled a d20 in your life or you're a seasoned veteran, you'll find a seat at my table. Paired with a deep, resonant narrative voice and a love for gritty atmosphere, I craft sessions that pull you in and don't let go. Expect dark corners, meaningful choices, and moments you'll still be talking about weeks later. Newcomers are especially welcome. I'll guide you through every rule, every roll, every dramatic pause — no experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to play.

I got started GMing...
I wanted everyone to have the experience I had the first time someone handed me a character sheet and said "you can be anyone." Twenty years later, I'm still chasing that feeling — and giving it to others.
People are always surprised when I tell them
...that my scariest, most atmospheric sessions are also the ones where players feel the most safe. Being an empath at the table means the horror lands harder — because everyone knows I'm watching out for them.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Immersive. Safe. Unforgettable.
How Pieter runs games
I run player-driven games — meaning your decisions shape the world, not the other way around. I bring the atmosphere (think gritty, cinematic, occasionally terrifying), the voices, and the living world. You bring the choices. Combat is tactical and meaningful, roleplay is immersive, and no two sessions ever feel the same. I run D&D 5e, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, and Old-School Essentials on Roll20 and Foundry VTT.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
A collaboration between Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson. Del Toro's dark, emotional creature-filled worlds where the monster is never just a monster — and Jackson's sweeping, epic battles where every soldier has a name. Beautiful. Brutal. Human.
I once ran a session...
Where the players thought they were hunting the monster. Three hours in, they realized they had become it. Nobody spoke in the car home.
When it comes to voices
They're not a party trick. Every NPC has a voice because every NPC has a life. The gruff blacksmith, the whispering cultist, the dying king — when they speak, I want you to forget there's a DM behind the screen.
Pieter's ideal table
My table is a campfire in the dark — warm, welcoming, and surrounded by people who lean in when the shadows move. If you've never played a TTRPG before, this is the place to start. I will walk you through every rule, every mechanic, every moment of "wait, what do I roll?" with patience and zero judgment. Your inexperience is not a weakness here — your fresh eyes and instincts will surprise even yourself. If you're a returning player, you know what I value: loyalty, creativity, and showing up. Players who invest between sessions — who think about their character, who message the group, who care — will find that investment reflected back at them tenfold in the story we build together. At my table, there are no wrong choices — only consequences, and consequences make great stories. I don't have a script. I have a world, and you have the freedom to tear through it however you see fit. The vibe? Imagine a horror movie where you actually like the characters. Tense, atmospheric, occasionally terrifying — but always with a DM who is watching every face at the table, making sure the darkness stays fun and never uncomfortable. You'll fit well here if you: . Are curious, even if you're completely new . Respect the other players at the table as much as your character would . Want to create a story, not just consume one . Are ready to be surprised by what you're capable of

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
If you're into The Witcher's moral greyness, Dark Souls' hidden lore, and Critical Role's emotional depth — and you've ever watched a horror movie thinking "I'd make better choices" — come prove it.
I love it when a player
Breaks my prep completely. The moment I put my notes face-down and just play — that's when the real magic happens.
My table is not the place for...
Passive passengers. I don't need experience or optimized sheets — just show up, reach out, and grab the world I've built. The story only happens if you try.
