About Rejean
I've been playing roleplaying games since the D&D red box I snagged from my uncle in 1983, playing every iteration, along with Shadowrun, the Palladium systems, White Wolf, GURPS, and the Marvel Multiverse RPG. I've even played my friend's Episaga System. Each are vehicles to get a story across. I've been the GM for a full party that played throughout high school, until the thief betrayed the party just to be crushed by the Dragon's hoard, shortly before graduation. I would like the opportunity to develop a story for a group of you.

I started running games because...
I was a lonely, pathetic young man with no power whatsoever in my real life, a vast imagination, and one friend who was every bit as much of a loser as me, that I could give a place to be a hero.
My favorite books are
Voltaire's Candide, Les Miserables, the Lord of the Rings books, the Black Cauldron series, and much of Steven King's earlier writings.
When I'm not running games I'm...
active with my church and community, offering food, clothing, free bibles, and direction to city resources and programs, including advocacy when requested. I would rather sit with someone through a decision they make that I disagree with than sit at their funeral.
How Rejean runs games
My GM style is about providing the players with the stage to be heroes: Departure, Initiation, and Return with all the substages found in Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey. That means that I may be willing to start a campaign with a group of murder hobos, but the campaign won't stay that way. Many players want to play the tortured hero, which can be done, as long as the player knows that the other players aren't obligated to drag them along, and if they aren't with the group when the story transitions (even if they are stalking them), they will be removed from the narrative and need to make another character. I'm not running 5 games at a table.

My games focus on...
existential tension as one progresses through the Hero's Journey.
Rules are...
necessary to provide a framework to achieve measurable success, but they are never the reason a game should not be fun.
When it comes to voices
I am admittedly horrible at them and will slip into my own voice every so often, but the point of this exercise is not aiming at perfection but excellence. This should be the aim of my players as well.
Rejean's ideal table
My ideal table will be full of players operating in character and engaging both one another and the narrative that I have put forth that is challenging, imaginative, and designed to allow them to shine as the heroes of the realm/city/nation/world/galaxy/atom etc... The players may love rules, may want to buy and develop keeps, research spells, and any other number of narrative-adjacent activities, but these will occur off board, so that the group time is for the group and not one individual.

I love it when a player
finds a gem of knowledge or insight that translates to their real world and makes them a better human being.
I think min/maxing...
is a perfectly reasonable means of ensuring one's character has consistent success in their endeavours and interactions, but the Cool Rule mechanic is designed to make challenging one's self rewarding and preventing the expert from running over the Roleplayers in the group.
My table is not the place for...
Out of game topics like modern-day, not made up by me, Earth politics, religion, human rights issues, or how to properly tune your 57 Chevy. I'm quite willing to incorporate real-world tensions, but it will be done in a way that targets no one real, like Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders.
