About Tony B
Hey I am Tony. I got started with ttrpgs with D&D 5e. I would buy the books before I had a group to play with, and even started my own homebrew world. I have since expanded my horizons to many other systems and love exploring new ones. I still have the habit of homebrewing worlds and stories for those worlds that I love sharing with others. My first major completed campaign started in 2023 and ended at the beginning of 2026. I have mostly run D&D 5e, but have dabbled in some Powered by the Apocalypse games like Monster of the Week. I also am a big fan of JelloApocalypse's Anime Campaign system, which I have run various homebrewed versions of. Roll20 is my preferred virtual tabletop, but I also like to do theater of the mind when there is no need for a tabletop. I use Discord for voice/text chat.

I got started GMing...
in college. I had an idea for a world and an adventure after reading the D&D DMG. From there I went on to refine the idea and buy more books of games to run.
My favorite books are
well besides ttrpg rule books I have a soft spot for the Percy Jackson books. I would consider the Harry Potter books helpful for getting me into fantasy, but I don't think they hold up as an adult.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Writing games or more likely distracting myself with video games, youtube, or comics.
How Tony B runs games
I like learning about characters and incorporating that into my games, such as giving personalized items to players. I am about 50/50 for how much combat I like to have compared to RP. I do balance combat encounters on the more dangerous side, so backup characters are recommended.

I deal with rules issues by...
I think its important to be clear about how things are ruled. If I have a certain way I want to rule something I want to be consistent with it. I do not always follow the RAW, but anything I deviate from I will try to put up front.
I prep by
meticulously making sure I have everything I could need... like 30 minutes before session time.
When it comes to voices
I try to do voices, but can't always remember the voice I do for a character.
Tony B's ideal table
I like to keep things pretty lighthearted above table. I enjoy when players roleplay with my npcs but even when things are serious I like the players to not feel like they are weighed down by it. If a player has a rules question or a question about how they can use an ability to do something, I love to entertain out of the box ideas and creativity.

I love it when a player
Has a good idea for what they want their character to do or be. I enjoy personalizing things for characters so having a good idea of what the character is helps.
I think metagaming...
is not great. Unless we are doing a series of sessions where I encourage it, don't have your characters act upon knowledge they do not have. This includes making characters who are only meant to counter something you know is in the game I am running, just make something fun.
My perfect party mix is
one with a variety of strengths. I don't think we need a party with 5 high INT characters with no strength. That's not to say two people can't have smart characters, but I would like if they focused on different things.
