About Anthony
I am a decades long lover of Dungeons and Dragons who has been a player and DM for 35 years. I have 3 children and a career in the aviation industry. I learned to play D&D in a back yard non-insulated shed in 1990 after finding a dropped $100 bill in a CVS and purchasing the rulebooks. We played regardless of weather, sometime shoveling a path through the snow to get to the shed. I served in the military in the early 2000's and even though weight was at a premium I choose to take my D&D books and dice with me overseas and once my unit was stable I pulled them out and spread the gospel of D&D to dozens of people. Near the late 2000's as I left the military to teach medicine and move towards aviation as a career my players ended up scattered to the winds. For this reason I switched over from running games online using Fantasy Grounds. I built a custom gaming table for my return to in-person D&D!! My personal history aside, I am a lover of lore but not a force feeder of lore. My style of DMing splits the ratio of Action to Roleplaying at a 60/40 rate. I like to allow players to hold discussions between themselves within reasonable time frames that do not disrupt the flow of the game but entitles agency of the party. I have 20 years experience of running games in VTTs (Virtual Table Tops) and am extremely familiar with digital tools and troubleshooting. As of 2026 I run 3 weekly games, 1 using my custom built table and 2 using Fantasy Grounds. All 5e in Faerun.

When I'm not running games I'm...
If I'm not running D&D games I will either be working in the aviation industry or at home playing video games such as BG3, Subnautica, Grounded, Enshrouded, or any other amazing games that I can find.
How Anthony runs games
I believe in a game ratio of action to roleplaying of 60/40. This means the party should have the opportunity to actively engage with the world around them just shy of twice as often as they are roleplaying. Though often times there is no clear line and these two often take place at the same time. It is very important to note that the action portion of that equation does not always equal combat. It could be skill checks involve with any number of attempted involvements with the world such as stealthing into a guard outpost to reconnoiter or conversing with the bartender where both roleplaying and active engagement of skills are used simultaneously. I am very knowledgeable in lore but do not force feed lore to players but it is often around for them to find should they desire to seek it out. In terms of difficulty balance, I believe combat and difficulty of adventure should be difficult enough that those who succeed at their heroic mission look back feeling accomplished and those who fail in their heroic mission look back with pride at their attempt.
Anthony's ideal table
Players who understand and appreciate that the game is a shared storytelling experience for all players involved and generally are present for the journey not the goal as the goals often shift as the game unfolds.
