I got started GMing...

Around 15 years or so ago now back on an old Play-by-Post forum. At the time I was just learning to play D&D 4e when the game I was signing up for had too many players. The GM asked if anyone wanted to run for the rest of the players, I volunteered. The rest is history.

My favorite books are

It's between The Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson or The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Both great and go well with my love of fantasy and storytelling.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Patient, creative and flexible.

How Thomas runs games

My focus is on storytelling and roleplay, providing a narrative for the players to explore and interact with many colorful characters. Combat encounters are frequent enough and climactic, the occasional dungeon crawl when appropriate and if desired by the party. I write my own campaigns rather than rely on preexisting content and am always willing to weave my players stories into the narrative.

I deal with rules issues by...

Talking out the issues and coming to a compromise that works for everyone.

My games focus on...

Good roleplay, storytelling and satisfying, fun combat encounters.

Rules are...

Important structure to keep things fair for everyone. There are of course times where the rules aren't well written for a situation and need to be worked with, but in general they serve as a good framework that the rest of the world hangs on.
