About Kit'Aram

In November of 2022, I started my first campaign, Curse of Strahd. It was not only my first time DMing but also my first time playing the game (couldn't find any games willing to accept a newbie xD). Since then, D&D has been a regular part of my life, both playing and DMing at least once a week out of pure passion. Over the years, I've tried many different ways of playing the game and exploring different themes—even experimenting with novel concepts like "creative magick," where I encourage players to use the logic of spells to expand their uses beyond what is written in the rule books (within reason, of course).

How Kit'Aram runs games

I have found the DMing style that works best for me while giving players all the agency they want. As a DM, I tend to stay away from "Rules As Written" in favor of a more dynamic and narrative experience. So, you don't need to be a rules expert to enjoy or do well in my games. That being said, I’ve replaced many traditional rules with situational circumstances and predefined personality traits that help guide how characters and the world respond. Personally, I enjoy games that are more politically oriented and have a long-form story structure, but I am no stranger to the casual monster-of-the-week type games or even silly and irreverent games where players just have fun without worrying about making the story make sense!

I prep by

updating the world according to what the players do, plan some likely routes I expect the party to take, add a few encounters where appropriate. I aim to deliver a sandbox-like freedom while still having an eventful session full of choices with lasting consequences.

My games focus on...

Exploring themes through communal narrative story-telling.

When it comes to voices

I lightly modify my voice in the way a book narrator might - not as a professional voice actor but as a way to easily differentiate between characters. That being said, I love a crazy wizard with a silly voice!
