About Venerable Dragonling

He/Him, ADHD, LGBTQ friendly. Just another content creator and part-time Dungeon master. (6 years of experience) I enjoy high-fantasy games that focus on fun, but I'm also experienced in dark fantasy settings if you prefer a more horror-focused experience. --------- Experience: Dungeons And Dragons: 5th Edition (2014) Dungeon master since 2020, mainly online but occasionally in person. Cyberpunk RED GM since 2024, mostly in person, one campaign online. Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition for 8 months, all in person. ---- Fun Facts About Me! 🎮My favourite video games are Persona 5, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess 🎭I have a degree in acting for stage and screen. I do voice acting on YouTube, but I'm not a professional yet. ♟️Big fan of D&D, Cyberpunk RED and Vampire The Masquerade. ✍️I'm working on my own TTRPG in my free time.

I got started GMing...

The first module I ever ran was Curse of Strahd on Roll20, before moving on to run Lost Mine of Phandelver, Cyberpunk RED, a Vampire: The Masquerade Chronicle, and several DnD 5E 2014 homebrew modules, one based on Ghosts of Saltmarsh and the other based on Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Passionate, detailed, creative. ...I'm a theatre kid. I love telling stories with heavy roleplaying involved, especially when my players get super into it.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Writing, gaming and doing voice acting.

How Venerable Dragonling runs games

My style involves running roleplay-heavy, story-focused sandbox games that interweave player backstories, player freedom, and the main story. My number one goal is to make sure everyone at the table has a good time and feels safe. I enjoy high-fantasy games that focus on fun, but I'm also experienced in dark fantasy settings if you prefer a more horror-focused experience. I also typically have a stream running on my Discord with music and ambience to help immerse players and set the mood. LGBTQ friendly. I do not allow friendly fire at my table unless both players consent. I do not use AI-generated content at my table. That includes tokens and maps.

I once ran a session...

Once ran a 9-hour session of Vampire: The Masquerade. It's the longest session I have run to date.

My games focus on...

Immersion, roleplaying, exploration, moderate combat, and fun. I don't really do puzzles.

Rules are...

Negotiable if they make the game worse (cough, drinking potions as an action, cough) and if everyone agrees with trying something new.

Venerable Dragonling's ideal table

-I use music and ambience to set the mood and help players get more immersed. -Idle chatter, jokes and banter are perfectly fine, so long as the game itself is taken relatively seriously. -I love players who get into character and provide a good backstory that I can have pop up for them. -Player creativity is encouraged. Please try cool things and see what happens! -Cooperation is also encouraged. I enjoy running games with groups that work well together. If you enjoy sabotaging teammates/pvp, you should seek out a different DM.

I love it when a player

Gets very into character, speaking as them and channelling their character's emotions. I'm a theatre nerd, those scenes are the best. I also love when a player interacts with their party, exploring each other's backstories and working together to overcome the campaign.

I think metagaming...

Metagaming is heavily frowned upon at my table. If you're taking outside knowledge that your character definitely should not know and applying it, rocks will start to fall on your plans conveniently.

My table is not the place for...

Evil-aligned characters with no purpose to their evil, murder hobos, 'edgy' characters, and just generally problematic players that don't want to take the game seriously. You're allowed to have fun at the table, of course, but I ask that you don't make a joke out of the game.
