About Robbie Scott | Jester & Quill Games

Hi, my name is Robbie and I have been playing TTRPG's since 2004. I have an intense passion for world building and collaborative storytelling. I run exclusively homebrew settings that I have been developing for over a decade but I also have experience running pre made modules as well my preferred system is D&D 5.5 but I have been running games since 3.5. I also have some experience running other systems like Pathfinder 1e and 2e. I tend to run sandbox games but I try my best to run a game everyone at the table will enjoy, ensuring a solid session zero is done and safety tools are implemented. I use Foundry VTT exclusively and I do incorporate generative AI art and music made with a commercial license for tokens and background music.

I got started GMing...

At the end of high school, my group had originally started playing Warhammer 40,000 but eventually transitioned to D&D 3/3.5. No one really wanted to DM so I volunteered and I have been the forever DM ever since.

My favorite books are

I love the R.A. Salvatore D&D books, particularly the Drizzit books. I have read these books several times and I think it is one of the reasons I fell in love with TTRPG games and the world of Dungeons and Dragons.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Suspicious, Flexible and Passionate

How Robbie Scott | Jester & Quill Games runs games

I try really hard to adapt to each player as needed, most of my games are sandbox style games but I can also run more linear games if players prefer a more directed experience. I try to incorporate roleplay, puzzles, combat into a cohesive mix that makes sense for each session, always keeping what the players prefer at top of mind. High stakes combat or theatrical low stakes encounters with a more focus on roleplay are both something I am comfortable running.

Featured Prompts

My favorite trope is...

High fantasy with a industrial revolution spin. I love having magical guns and machines in my games. It let's me have so many more options in my worlds.

Rules are...

A good baseline but sometimes you need to bend them to enhance the scene or moment. I try to not get caught up in minor rules and make calls as gut instinct if I am really unsure, but always look the rule up after a session to make sure I understand how it should be run in the future.

When it comes to voices

I am not very good at voices, I feel all of my NPCs end up sounding the same. I try to improve each session I run but more often than not I try to limit voices to important NPCs only.

Robbie Scott | Jester & Quill Games's ideal table

My table is best for players that are willing to collaborate with each other and myself. I enjoy playing with new players as well as experienced players equally. My table is often filled with laughter or excitement, I feel like my boss encounters often have one or two crazy situations happen that everyone remembers and will reference many sessions afterwards.

Featured Prompts

I love it when a player

Helps spread the spotlight to other players, sharing the fun with everyone is a massive green flag for me and I will always appreciate it.

My perfect party mix is

A few players that love to roleplay, someone who likes puzzles and riddles, a few characters that want combat and characters that enjoy exploring the world presented to them.

My table is not the place for...

Lone wolf gamers will not enjoy my games. If you want to go do your own thing over and over again I will eventually stop engaging with you and focus on the players that want to engage with each other.
