About Isabel
Hi! I’m Isabel, a big nerd who loves playing and running TTRPGs. I’ve always loved storytelling, but as a teen I was only able to play in D&D campaigns. It was at SCAD, where I was privileged enough to major in comics and minor in creative writing, that I was introduced to more niche systems. But finding GMs who knew these systems was hard, so if I wanted to play them, I realized I would need to GM them myself. I got together some friends and began GMing, and I discovered just how much I love the role! Once I began playing online I discovered even more systems I love, and I hope to one day master all of them. It’s the collaborative nature of TTRPGs that makes them so compelling to me. I love crafting new worlds alongside players, and watching their characters grow and change as they overcome challenges. I see myself as a fellow player who is here to facilitate the group’s storytelling. This also means I seek to foster a welcoming community where everyone feels safe. I’m here primarily for roleplay, so I run rules-medium to rules-light systems like PBTA and Cypher System. I especially love weird settings with elements of sci-fi. Whether that means superheroes fighting alien threats, techno fantasy, or X-Files style horror, I’m here for it. If all this sounds great to you, I’d love to have you at my table. Feel free to reach out, and I’m excited to go on a journey with you!

When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing them! They could be group rpgs, solo rpgs, or video games. Interactive storytelling mediums are a joy to me. I also work on my own personal creative projects, many of which are inspired by the games I play.
How Isabel runs games
I'm a roleplay-focused GM who prioritizes compelling, character-focused stories over crunchy mechanics. But in a tabletop setting, those stories aren't told alone. The PCs and their players are the stars, and I tailor my games to the desires of each group. With roleplay as the focus, you can expect a lot of talking, whether that be with each other, regular NPCs, or villains! I also love emphasizing setting, and that’s done best when I collaborate with players in creating it. The weirder the setting, the more ways it can directly contribute to the narrative, or open the door for fun roleplaying moments. So I’m always a fan of the bizarre.

I prep by
Looking at stars and wishes! My prep focuses on fulfilling player wishes from the previous session, as well as providing players with story beats and NPCs. Overall though it's very loose, to allow players the freedom to focus on what they want.
My games focus on...
Character roleplay and setting. Characters and their relationships are my favorite part of any story, and interesting settings often provide unique roleplaying opportunities.
Isabel's ideal table
My ideal table is full of people who aren't afraid to get into character, and who are eager to tell the entire group's story. It's also full of people who are there primarily to have fun, laugh, and enjoy a story together.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Improv! Are you a theater kid at heart? So am I. I love PCs interacting with each other in-character, sometimes without much GM prompting, when I both play and run games. My GMing is focused on facilitating that kind of play, so if that's what you like to do, I've got you covered.
I think min/maxing...
Works at some tables, but not at mine. It's why I'm not a fan of rules-heavy systems. When a player hands me a character sheet that prioritizes numbers over narrative, I know I'm likely not the GM for them.
