About Lukas
I first started playing TTRPGs when I was sixteen. Like most, I began with D&D, specifically 5e. Fantasy and science fiction have always been my favorite genres, and getting the chance to inhabit those worlds was intoxicating. Eberron has a special place in my heart and I'd love for more people to experience the richness of that world. Growing up, I loved to act in musical theater, and when I lived in California as a teenager, I became interested in film acting. I studied filmmaking and animation in college, I'm working on drawing graphic novels and comics, and I just finished writing a fantasy book. Clearly, I hate storytelling. TTRPGs are a perfect storm of everything I love about being creative. GMing allows me to act and improvise dialogue with NPCs, describe scenes in interesting locations and settings, and write compelling plot hooks that encourage players to explore the narrative and take active roles in the outcome of the story. What I love most about TTRPGs is how it brings people together and results in a group of friends writing a story with each other.

My favorite books are
Currently, my favorite books are anything written by Brandon Sanderson. I'm making my way through his Cosmere and loving every second of it. I'm also a big fan of the A Song of Ice and Fire series (I know too much lore about it), the Hunger Games series, and the Percy Jackson series.
My favorite shows/movies are
My favorite shows are Attack on Titan, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Doctor Who, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Game of Thrones. These TV shows are very influential in the types of characters and stories I like to create.
When I'm not running games I'm...
When I'm not running games, I'm doing all sorts of hobbies. I love to write so when I'm not coming up with ideas for campaigns, I'm coming up with stories for any medium I can sink my teeth into. I love to draw, sing, play video games with friends, and watch movies with my family.
How Lukas runs games
With me as your GM, chances are you'll be doing more roleplaying than rolling dice. I absolutely love roleplaying and I firmly believe that the dice only get involved when there is a chance of failure. Point is, you can absolutely talk your way out of most situations. That being said, I like combat to be fast-paced, have high-stakes, and be memorable. I never want players to feel like combat is dragging on, and I like incorporating roleplay into combat as well. I want players to feel like the decisions they make have weight, that the world around them is alive, and that their actions have consequences. I love incorporating player backstories, and if players have an arc they want their characters to go on, I am more than happy to talk with them about achieving it. That being said, I don't like to plan in extreme detail too far ahead since I feel that takes the fun out of the story's spontaneity. Most importantly, I want players to feel like they get to do cool things with their characters and feel like heroes. I am definitely not of the Player VS GM mindset. It's a collaborative storytelling experience, and I want it to feel that way.

I deal with rules issues by seeing how they best apply to the situation. I want to get a group consensus and go with what's fair, or what's best for the story. I'm not really a stickler for the rules, but I always want to know what they are before making a decision.
My games focus on...
My games usually focus on finding light in the darkness. Inspiring hope is very important to me, and more often than not that's the feeling I want my players to leave with. I want my players to care about what happens in the world.
When it comes to voices
When it comes to voices, I usually like to go all out. I won't give every NPC a crazy voice, but if I am going to give them one, I like to stick to it. Sometimes a voice is so key to shaping a character, and sometimes it's a necessity for me in order to get into character.
Lukas's ideal table
I like to keep my tables on the smaller side, around 4-5 players, so expect that in terms of table size. I think players who enjoy lots of roleplaying will fit in at my table. I really encourage players to lean into their characters and take an active role in the story. Their decisions will impact the narrative, and I think players who like to get involved with the plot, the world, and solve mysteries will have fun at my table.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
If you're into Dimension 20 or Critical Role, you're going to love my table. I find their campaigns really inspirational and I try and model my campaigns after their vibe. I think they do a great job of blending comedy and drama, which I think is really important.
I love it when a player
I love it when a player is active rather than reactive. I love it when they make risky decisions, or lean into their character's motivations. I think it's much more interesting for the players to drive the story through their actions instead of relying solely on the DM to push the plot forward.
I think it's a red flag when players...
I think it's a red flag when players try to be the main character of the story. That might sound obvious to some, but there are lots of players who try force the party to do what they want and not listen to the group, or try and put themselves in the spotlight. This is a collaborative game!
