About MyrinFyre
Hello, I am MyrinFyre (my-RIN-fire). I've been DMing for decades, starting with a family game when I was a teenager. My dad introduced us to Pathfinder, then we jumped to 4.5e and I took over as DM from then on. I love story telling and weaving worlds and characters together. One of my passions is helping new players learn how to play and enjoy D&D. I have taken a DM class to allow me to DM at conventions, though I have not had the opportunity to run a table at a con yet. I have run groups both online and in person, with both new and experienced players and DMs, and love when the players are able to develop their characters during our adventures.

I became a GM because
I really enjoy telling stories. I used to explain books and shows in detail to those that would listen. My favorite part of TTRPGs is the roleplay and storytelling aspect. I enjoy creating a world and letting players explore to their heart's desire.
My favorite books are
Fantasy and Adventure is my favorite genre. I really enjoy books by John Flannagan (Ranger's Apprentice and Brotherband Chronicles) and Dakota Krout (Divine Dungeon, Artorian's Archives, and Completionist Chronicles).
When I'm not running games I'm...
Pettsitting, playing video games, working on writing a book, jotting down ideas for adventures that I randomly think about during the day.
How MyrinFyre runs games
I enjoy story telling and roleplay. I enjoy making my own homebrew adventures and encounters that further the story. I enjoy challenges that causes the players to think about different ways to go about things than just combat. When combat happens, I tend to narrate it while allowing the players to have control over how they attack their enemies.

I deal with rules issues by...
Discussion and communication. Any immediate rule questions during a game, will result in a brief discussion. But I tend not to let it go long enough to impact the game time. If a rule issue requires further discussion, that will happen on the side where we can go over why rules should change or not.
My games focus on...
Character progression and development are my main focuses. Once I have a better understanding of the characters that I'm working with, I'll dig into their backstory and explore ways to wrap these into the story. Make the world more engaging and important to the players.
When it comes to voices
I'm not particularly good at changing my voice for voice acting. I tend to use tools to assist with this, or will speak in a distinct way for that NPC.
MyrinFyre's ideal table
My table is very open on how I run it. I adapt to the players I have. Wanna be a murder hobo, that's okay, I'll throw extra spicy encounters to make sure that you feel fulfilled. Want to get in to the social roleplay and intereacting with NPCs, that's one of the things I enjoy most. All I ask, is that players come with an open mind and are willing to adapt as well. The main goal is for the players to work together to progress the story. If one player wants to do things that are vastly different from the rest of the group, I may work with them seperately or advise that they switch to a group who better fits the adventure they want to go on.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Fantasy, adventure, story-telling, puzzles and mystery, interesting NPCs, and a chance to develop your character in memorable ways that you'll be talking to others about for years to come.
I think metagaming...
Breaks the fourth wall and ruins the immersion. Numbers on dice are things that we are aware of, but the characters we play don't even know they exist. If someone rolls a low insight check, their character is going to believe that they read an NPC accurately, they don't know any better.
My table is not the place for...
Anyone who wants to run the party. Those that insist on being the main voice of the party and making all the decisions while the others are just dragged along, are not the type of players that I like to work with. I want everyone at the table to take part and have a say in the world we're creating.
