About Mason

I have been playing DnD for 8 years and GMing for 6. I have run 4 games and a few one shots over the years. I love Harry Potter, LOTR, Star Wars, and Marvel. Storytelling is a huge part of DnD for me but I just love a narrative combat session. Fun is the name of the game so I’ll always make sure a part of the game is taylored to each player. LGBTQ support and inclusion is something I believe in as well. Equality is big for me even in a make believe world.

In my free time, I love many activities. My top Hobbies are GMing, Playing Sports, and Grinding in Videogames! I play Hockey, Football, and Curling. I love Minecraft, Baldur's Gate, and the Total War series. I have many things that I pack my life with from hobbies to my education, to TTRPG!

How Mason runs games

I love a varying play style across campaigns. Switching between intense political situations, intricuit roleplay scenarios, and complex combat environments is a must. For one shots I love focusing on a small scale journey climaxing with combat and ending with satisfying rewards both narratively and physically (all those dice!) I always try to allow player agency and follow the ‘rule of cool’ when the set rules don’t exactly allow for what a player wants to do. Tracking arrows and rations gets tiering for everyone, so as long as a player would reasonably have access to a material they say they have, that works perfectly for me. Fun is why we play so anyone trying to belittle another player will be given three strikes, if you violate anyone’s personal boundaries, especially emotionally, you may be asked to leave. This is to promote a kind and fun environment. I love ttrpg’s and can’t wait to play with you all.

Mason's ideal table

I love to GM for players who want to be involved in the world. Your Character's Backstory doesn't need to be some elaborate 5000-word essay, but a few connections to the world through NPCs, Locations, and Character goals will help me to help you have the most impactful fun at the table you have ever experienced. I also love a good Dungeon, whether it is collaborative puzzle solving, beating up a room of monsters, or running for your lives. I always try to make sure the nerdiest nerds and beefiest tanks have fun around the table, especially in combat. Sometimes it takes a little finesse to persuade the King or a band of merchants to give you a better price, and don't forget about sweet, sweet political relationships. There is always a use for certain skills in any situation! In short. As long as you have come to the table excited to play, we will all have a bunch of fun.

I think metagaming...

Has its place. Metagaming is okay as long as there is some way that your character could make an inference about something in-game, you can do the same above game. I caution players against assuming they know too much, because there may be things that I have tweaked about monsters or rules.
