About Gregory Moskowitz

Hey yall! Im Greg I am a rule of cool forward Game Master with going on 7 years of experience in DND pathfinder and shadowrun. I love to create worlds centered around my players that I can fill with fun exciting locations vile villians and wacky over the top npcs with a broad range of voices and backgrounds for them to interact with. Although I pride myself on not telling my players flat out no I do have a couple of basic ground rules at my tables I expect everyone to follow. 1 fantasy racism may often exist in these worlds as a means of narrative and world building but player characters will not hold blanket prejudice against any races creeds or colors. real or fictional. a Romeo and juliet style feud between small local groups of folks is acceptable. 2 there will be no mention of sexual assault or manipulation in my games if you wanna use a spell to get someone to sleep with you there are plenty of other game masters for you but I am not one of them. 3 no lone wolves. If you wanna be a dark and broody rogue or a warlock with a chip on there shoulder great but they have to be willing to work and communicate with the rest of the party. This is a communal story telling game and im not going to prioritize one players fun over the rest. Can't wait to play with you all soon!

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Pathfinder because id have unlimited time to look through the hundreds of feats. Shadowrun because if you cut out the unnecessary bloat and crunch it becomes the perfect system to let you make the exact character you want. Daggerheart because i havent played it as much as id like.

My favorite books are

usually a bit eclectic, I like both sci-fi and high fantasy. love anything by Tolken Douglas Adams or Terry Pratchett. also love learning about mythology and reread the percy jackson books. if im going non fiction i love Ta-Nehisi Coates. most recently ive been obsessed with Agatha Christie.

My favorite system of all Time is

Shadowrun. This game gets a terrible wrap for legit reasons. If you cut out the weird crunch and bloat of the rules on magic and combat you have an incredibly simple system that allows you to make exactly the character you want without a bunch of niche abilities noone uses. plus combat is bonkers.

How Gregory Moskowitz runs games

I am first and foremost a rule of cool DM and am happy to put the rules aside when a player does something incredible. I find my games tend to be 50% role play 30% 20% exploration. My combats are often difficult and require players to use all the tools in there arsenal to come out on top. I also am not a fan of classic slugfests and I typically add some sort of trick puzzle or secondary objectives to make battles more then a simple fight to the death.

My games focus on...

first and foremost making sure each of my players is getting an opportunity to help tell the story. with making capitalism the bad guy even when your fighting a giant robot or an army of giants coming in at a close second.

Rules are...

there to ajudicate when we dont know what to do. id rather my players do the cool thing and we figure out how to justify it later.

When it comes to voices

there are only 3 kinds badass and cool silly and flamboyant grating and crunchy all 3 are important and valid

Gregory Moskowitz's ideal table

My Ideal table is full of folks who are ready willing and able to collaborate and share the spotlight to create a compelling and epic story. I dont exactly mind if someone wants to optimize there character but not when it involves minmaxing for one specific situation and ignoring everything else. We've all had players in our games that either have main character syndrome or fundamentally dislike key aspects of the game that make telling a story together more difficult and less fun. I want people who are not only excited to kill bad guys but also to roleplay meeting there long lost brother or explore an abandoned temple filled with secrets and traps. Also im looking for folks who want to support each others choices(even the less then optimal ones.)

I love it when a player

Blurts out a random useless fact or piece of trivia about a person place or thing that the party are interacting with. Players who arent afraid to be actively involved in the world building make my heart happy. also any spell used for flare or flavor is always free.

I think min/maxing...

is totally a valid way to play but if it means you check out whenever your not optimized for a situation or steamroll every encounter without letting your party shine then thats where we have a problem.

My table is not the place for...

bigots racists or creeps. I do not play around. youll be out of the game and reported immediately.
