About Blake

Hey everyone! My name's Blake, and I have been playing TTRPGs for over 2 decades. I've got experience in d20 systems and powered by the apocalypse settings, with a smattering of world of darkness thrown in. I've been DM'ing across D&D editions since 3.5 was still the dominant game in the space. I've been playing D&D 5e since it's inception (mostly as the DM/GM) and would love to run games for you as well! I love running heavy lore games, deep character role play, and at times I also know that the Rule of Cool needs to take center stage. Not to say that we shy away from combat, but I believe there should always be a chance to avoid a fight and give space to creative problem solving. Nice to meet you, and looking forward to playing!

How Blake runs games

I love telling a great story. I've never run a module exactly as written because it removes the most important part of the story: the players and their own arcs/connections to it. I like it when I can add or connect stories into adventures and see the payoff of them. I live for the drama of situations, both social and combat oriented ones! Most of all, I want to ensure we're ALL telling a story we want to tell. I'm game to always include additional elements that players enjoy to enhance the experience. Prefer full token based combat over theatre of the mind? Love/hate puzzles? Hate combat in general? Shopping episodes are a bore? I think my best skills are in improvisation and adaptability.

Rules are...

there to enforce how the game should be played, but there are always times where rules are suggestions rather than absolutes. Fun is the core of all the games we play, and rules should not trump having a good time (as long as it's not at anyone's expense)

Blake's ideal table

I'd love a table of people who are willing to engage in the game in character and out. I think memes/gifs can be a great fun and silly addition to things to keep you engaged in the world and the story. I love when players can find a way to get us all (myself included) lost in a moment of role play.
