How Dan Hillman runs games

Hi! I'm a DM that focuses on chaotic comedic campaigns, in my experience things never go to plan so why not lean into it? The best games are those that let you players use your creativity to get those big character moments and ridiculous solutions to crazy situations, meaning one moment of serious stakes can lead to the next being complete nonsense. I run games that are welcoming to everyone and easy to jump into, perfect for players that want a fun, relaxed and slightly unhinged game.

Dan Hillman's ideal table

My table is story-driven but with a strong focus on character choices and consequences. I love working players backstories into the world and letting players decisions shape the narrative of the campaign. The vibe at my table is relaxed, creative and often silly but taking the important character and story moments seriously. We will improvise, joke and lean into the unexpected outcomes but slow down for tense moments and big story and character moments. Players who enjoy improvisation, teamwork and engaging with the world will feel right at home here. Don't fret if you arent big on role-playing just be present, respect the table and be curious. I don't aim to "beat" the party instead I like fair consequences and challenges that help make the world come alive, I try to "yes and" as much as possible I aim for a balance of fun and meaningful. New player and experienced players are welcome as long as youre kind, engaged and don't try to hog the spotlight.
