About Stephen

Hey there! I’m Stephen the storyteller behind LastTentacle Studios. I’ve been playing and DMing tabletop RPGs for about 12 years, ever since I jumped behind the screen just a week after my very first game. I’m 41, and I live in Germany with my wife and dog. My campaigns take place in a deeply developed homebrew world filled with myth, mystery, and consequence. I love crafting stories that feel cinematic and emotionally resonant , where player choices have real consequences I’m known for creating immersive, character-driven experiences that blend dramatic storytelling, layered lore, and tactical, high-stakes encounters. If you’re looking for a DM who values narrative weight, meaningful roleplay, and battles that feel alive, you’ll feel right at home at my table.

How Stephen runs games

My worlds are deep, dangerous, and alive, rich with lore, history, and consequence. Every game is roleplay-heavy, character-driven, and designed to feel like a living, breathing sandbox where your choices truly matter. You’ll find a DM who works with you. You’ll have the space to dig deep into your character. No railroads, no rushing from scene to scene. The story unfolds at your pace, shaped by your choices and the bonds you forge along the way. The world is deadly, life is cheap, and survival means something. There’s no plot armor here: every victory, loss, and moral choice leaves its mark. What I don’t do: I don’t do character voices. Instead, I build real NPCs with believable motives and emotional depth. I don’t run easy games. You’ll earn every triumph. I don’t rules-lawyer mid-session. I make a call and we keep the story moving. Happy to chat after a game, but the focus stays on immersion. I won’t point giant arrows at what to do next , this is a true sandbox. The world continues with or without you.

I deal with rules issues by making a quick ruling in the moment and moving on, keeping the story flowing and the table engaged. If something needs a deeper look, I’ll revisit it after the session, but at the table, momentum and immersion always come first.

My games focus on...

My games focus on immersive storytelling, character-driven roleplay, and meaningful choices within a living world that reacts to your actions, where every decision can shape the fate of kingdoms, friendships, and even the gods themselves.

Rules are...

Rules are the framework, not the focus, they exist to support the story, not restrict it. I follow 5e as a foundation, but if a moment calls for something cinematic, dramatic, or simply more fun, I’ll make a ruling that serves the tale we’re telling together.

Stephen's ideal table

My tables run best when everyone is fully present and invested in the story we’re building together. I ask all players to use both camera and microphone, seeing each other’s faces and reactions helps bring the game to life, makes roleplay more natural, and keeps the experience personal and engaging. I run with the D&D 2014 ruleset, but I’m not a rules lawyer. The rules serve the story and the table, not the other way around. If a ruling feels off or slows things down, I’ll make a quick decision that makes sense for the moment and move forward. Many of my monsters and encounters are homebrewed, so don’t expect to know exactly what a creature can do just because you’ve read the Monster Manual. This table is for roleplayers and storytellers, people who enjoy getting into character, making meaningful choices, and exploring a living, breathing world. I give parties time to actually interact and develop their relationships in-game. If you love sandbox-style campaigns and character-driven stories, you’ll fit right in. You don’t need to do character voices (I don’t, either!), but I do promise you memorable NPCs, layered villains, and a world that reacts to what you do.

I love it when a player
