About McClain

Hey, I’m McClain. Disabled veteran, worldbuilder, and full-time DM with a love for cinematic storytelling and morally gray choices. I’ve been in the TTRPG space for about six years now, starting with Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay before moving into Dungeons & Dragons, where I’ve spent the last four years behind the screen. What began as a creative outlet turned into something more now it’s how I build worlds, tell stories, and give players a space to become something bigger than themselves. My games lean heavily into immersive storytelling, high-stakes decisions, and character-driven narratives. I like to build upon the stories of your characters, and sometimes have fun and bring humor to the sessions by breaking the fourth wall. I specialize in blending epic fantasy with darker, grounded themes where faith, power, and survival all collide. Whether it’s political tension, divine influence, or straight-up chaos, the world reacts to you. When I’m not running games, I’m building entire worlds from scratch, designing campaigns, or working on content tied to my brand Bardic Games. I’m big on atmosphere, tone, and making every session feel like part of something larger. In the process of trying to open up a Fantasy Tavern in Fort Myers I think it will be such a cool concept.

I got started GMing...

Because my friend groups were always looking for a GM and this wasnt around at the time. I did it and fell in love with being a GM, I still enjoy a good player role from time to time.

My favorite shows/movies are

Supernatural hands down, there is no greater show than that.

How McClain runs games

I am all about having fun. If the players are having fun, then I am having fun as the DM. I play by the rule of cool, and I don't get hung up on rules if you are having fun. You want to do something outrageous, but there is some wiggle room on whether you technically can, I see it as interpretation so long as it isn't far out of the set of rules. I make sure everyone at the table is comfortable and nothing gets too cringe to anyone. I also have table rules that I go over at each Session 0. I don't mind restricting certain topics in the setting, but If the players choose not to, as a collective, then I go along with whatever you do in the scenes. Because at the end of the day, the campaign is about you and your characters, and if you have fun, we have had a successful campaign.

I prep by

Reviewing the characters, and the campaign to make sure things are set up, I take notes and jot down ideas for what I can add to the session if using a preexisting campaign so that you wont see what Is coming.

Rules are...

Sometimes optional, If you are creative enough. I tend to lean towards players having fun than being a hard pass for the rules. Find a locked door and dont want to pick the lock, by all means bust through the wall. So long as things happen naturally I am okay.

McClain's ideal table

So long as we all have fun and dont talk over one another then thats my ideal table, I dont have a preference on who is there of what yall do.

My perfect party mix is

A Balance, but I do enjoy Parties that have no balance and may even lack a Healer, it makes sessions more fun seeing if you all survive. But I try to accommodate where I need to so you can pick the class and race you want and not have to worry about balance in the party.
