About Ian
Hello! I'm a 27 year old Irish guy who loves running character driven fantasy games! I'm mainly experienced in Dungeons & Dragons 5e with some dabbling in other systems. I like to get to know my players, have good banter and laugh our arses off in between creating a great story together.

I got started GMing...
for friends when we were 16. I had read some 5e rules and thought it sounded fun on podcasts like Adventure Zone and Critical role. MY first campaign quickly went off the rails and the party was chauffeured around by Ryan Gosling from Drive. I have since struggled to reach those heights once again.
My favorite books are
the discworld series by Terry Pratchett, if I had to choose which ones specifically, I'd go with Night Watch, Mort and Guards, Guards.

Currently devouring The Vampire Lestat, other top shows are The Good place, Always Sunny and Better Call Saul.
How Ian runs games
I run a roleplay heavy game. NPC's will be developed alongside you, relationships and connections are encouraged! I'm a fan of morally grey decisions and putting characters into situations to test their mettle. I enjoy a single main plot thread binding together a campaign that has many branching paths and side adventures the party can choose to engage with. Developing backstories together is a big part of my fun! My combat focuses on the narrative but I don't hold back or pull my punches. Risk of death and struggle are all very important to me in game.
Ian's ideal table
The ideal for me is just kind, invested and respectful players. I prefer to run campaigns and games where we treat our characters like real people but will still laugh at stupid jokes and dumb plans going off the rails. Outside the game we laugh constantly and inside the game we are locked in for our own characters and everyone else. I love a good downtime session full of inter-party talks and NPC's getting to dig into a character.
