About Palehearth_DM
I’m a passionate storyteller, world builder and games master with years of experience running D&D 5e, (weekly since 2018), as well as playing myriad other systems for over 25 years. I draw my own maps and have a sprawling home-brew world to run games in.

I became a GM because
I love the medium. Being able to collaborate with others to tell stories, build worlds and go on epic adventures as a group is the closest thing to real magic.
I got started GMing...
When I was 16, in my local gaming store. The staff would run TTRPGs for pick-up groups and I got the bug! 24 years later, and I'm still telling stories around a table with creative and imaginative people.
My favorite system of all Time is
D&D 5e. I've played and run in a huge variety of games, but I keep coming back to this standard.
How Palehearth_DM runs games
I believe in giving players absolute agency in a living world that has consequences as well as rewards, and know that above all else that the goal of everyone at the table is to have fun and make memories that are worth celebrating. I strive to walk the line between 'rule of cool', ensuring everyone gets a chance to shine, and arbitrating the rules to drive fairness and consistency. Safety, comfort and enjoyment for everyone at the table is the paramount priority of a GM, and I hope to make sure we weave stories we are proud of, in and out of game.

I prep by
I tend to over prepare. It's a habit that is easy to fall into, when worldbuilding is a passion. Battlemaps, world maps, narrative plans, NPC lists... The trick is to be prepared, but also prepare to throw it all out, if the story takes us in a different direction!
My games focus on...
Player agency and story first. My goal is to present an intriguing and rich world for my players to really exist within and explore. It's better to tell stories when we find the outcomes together.
When it comes to voices
There is absolutely no obligation for accents or character voices at my table. Sure, you're welcome to perform! But no pressure. I tend to use voice and attitude changes to denote different NPC and tone, but you don't have to join in, unless you are comfortable.

I am for a vibe that's...
I aim to create a welcoming table that encourages players to collaborate and work together. Sharing the spotlight and lifting each other helps tell a richer story.
I love it when a player
I love it when a player engages in the world and asks questions. The more they are aware of their situation, the more creative they can be with their actions!
