About Klaus

Hello there! I am Klaus, your humble Game Master! I've been GMing for over a year, running immersive D&D 5e (and 5.5e) and Daggerheart campaigns. My tables are welcoming to both seasoned adventurers and new players alike, with a strong focus on storytelling, player agency, and most importantly, fun! I specialize in epic and dark fantasy campaigns that blend intense narrative combat, deep lore, and rich story arcs. Whether you're delving into forgotten ruins or navigating the complex politics of a cursed kingdom, you'll find your character’s story tied directly into the world around you! I prefer long-term campaigns, the first campaign I've ever DMed for is still going on! So, if you'd like a game where you'll experience adventures you'll be able to tell for years and a GM who builds stories with you, not just for you, I’d love to have you at my table!

I became a GM because

the more ttrpgs I played, the more I found myself wanting to create a sotry, and then, to share it with my friends! Adding the useful and the pleasant, I had no choice but to start GMing, and I love it!

My favorite shows/movies are

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, The Legend of Vox Machina, Sousou no Frieren and Dungeon Meshi

How Klaus runs games

I run narrative-driven games that lean toward linear story progression, while still giving players meaningful choices and plenty of freedom to explore. The campaigns I build are shaped around the characters you bring to the table. Your backstory isn't just flavor, it's fuel for major plot developments, personal quests, and dramatic twists. Sessions typically balance around 60% combat/exploration and 40% roleplay, providing a mix of strategic encounters and character-driven moments. I use custom maps, thematic music, and vivid descriptions to bring the world to life, and I'm always happy to adjust the pace or tone based on group feedback. Safety and comfort are non-negotiables. I always run a Session Zero, and I incorporate tools like lines and veils, the X-card, and open dialogue to make sure every player feels respected and heard.

My favorite trope is...

found family! A party full of characters that genuinely care about each other by forging their frienships through iron and fire!

My games focus on...

Telling a compelling story with the players, involving them and their character development to the main plot! Be it combat, exploration or social encounters, the living breathing world revolves around the player characters!

Rules are...

tools to tell a better story! They are not here to limit the players imagination, but to enable them to share their stories!

Klaus's ideal table

A group that values immersive storytelling with a balance of drama and humor. I prioritize narrative and character-driven play, with flexible rules that support the story over strict mechanics! I’m looking for players who are genuinely invested in their characters and the world, open to collaboration, unafraid to roleplay, and willing to explore unexpected paths. Respectful, communicative players who share the spotlight and contribute ideas are key. The game I run features strong campaign arcs with frequent, plot-relevant combat, and a mix of thoughtful prep and responsive improvisation to keep things dynamic and engaging!

I love it when a player

cares for their character, the world they live in and the circumstances they found themselves in!

I think min/maxing...

is allowed if, and only if, the character has an equally good backstory justifying each build choice and the player makes as much effort in exploration and roleplay as they do in combat!
