About Weseley

Hello! I am Weseley Smith and I've been a forever DM for about 4 years now after saying screw it and making my own games after wanting to play for a long time. I immediately fell in love with being a DM and haven't looked back. I have dabbled with a few other TTRPG's and I keep coming back to 5e as it holds a special place in my heart as I've found many wonderful people I still play with today. I've created a number of homebrewed one-shots and even a several year long campaign called "The Three Sisters." I don't intend to charge a lot for my games as I feel games should be more accessible than 30 dollars a game. That's absurd.

I became a GM because

I really wanted to play D&D and said screw it one day. Read through the Curse of Strahd module then found some random people from reddit. I still play with them 4 years later.

My favorite shows/movies are

Futurama is easily my favorite show as the humor is right up my alley. While monty python and the holy grail as well as spaceballs hold a lot of my brain.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Working on writing out the modules I've created or playing the odd game. Really getting into Rimworld and Helldivers 2 lately.

How Weseley runs games

I am a high-fantasy, homebrew oriented DM. I follow rule of cool above all else and my inspiration system shows that. For instance, inspiration in my games isn't just a reroll, it's an opportunity for you as a player to ask for a one-time approval of most things... The only catch is you have to convince me, and I'm usually pretty easy to convince. I believe roleplaying games should be collaborative and player focused. I enjoy allowing my players to grow stronger than average, thus giving me the allowance of pulling no punches. I give you all the tools to succeed and even if you do it in a way I wasn't expecting, I'm rooting for you all the way. Destroy my games, I want it.

My games focus on...

Allowing the players to become true hero's. Growing ever stronger and conquering abysmal odds.

Rules are...

Subject to scrutiny when they impede a player's enjoyment of the game. Just because someone says a game should be run one way doesn't mean it needs to be.

When it comes to voices

I try my best but due to memory issues I struggle recalling voices. So being honest you may hear varied speech from NPC's depending on how long it's been since you've talked to them.

Weseley's ideal table

I am looking for players who are looking to be creative with their solutions and are active role-players. I don't like to prod my players on what they would like to do next, instead I set the scene and expect my players to play off of it. I am fully capable of working off the fly to roll with whatever you happen to pull out of left field. The vibe of the players I'm going for is laid back and understanding that player actions and PC actions are two different things. There can be party conflict without there being player conflict. I welcome homebrew and third-party content (with approval) and encourage people to try something new. I'm not against players changing their characters if they find they're not having fun... but try not to make switching characters or skills a habit.

I love it when a player

Destroys my encounters with a clever plan. I try to include lots of details and give you a lot of cool items and trinkets that you can pull out in a cool moment to blow me away.

I think metagaming...

Destroys the fun of the game when it comes to knowing too much about what's going on. Sure if you have knowledge of monsters already and know that a troll should be hit with acid or fire, try to roll for that knowledge. I think a PC can have a vast knowledge of many thing, you don't need to metagame

I think min/maxing...

Is totally a viable way to play the game. I'm not a min/maxxer at all as I enjoy creating completely random characters and then just roleplaying them whoever they may be. My favorite character to date is a human fighter named Mama Grenda. She was a battlemaster fighters with 3 dex. rusty fake leg
