About Jannis
Hi my name is Jannis. I am GMing for quite some time now. My interest in GMing players sparked when I starded working as as an escaperoom GM after school hours. It always delighted me to see the players sucessfully completing one of the riddles. And since I always had a hard time finding other GMs in my area back then I decided to start my own jurney as a GM for DnD 5e. So I anounced my search for willing adventurers at my universities blackboard and found 4 Players with whom I play to this day in person. I lead also another campain which sadly ended due to a private dispute between players. I am now here to broaden my audience and maybe find some people who like to hear my stories and playtest some of my Homebrew ideas.

I became a GM because
I worked at a lokal Escape room, where it always delighted me to see people having fun, also due to my shenanigans and wanted to play DnD. So I decided to become a GM and announced an advert for willig test subj... ADVENTURERS to play my first ever hosted DnD campaign.
People are always surprised when I tell them
My notes are fairly empty. I do plan out what the next steps in the adventure might be, but with a creative party it is more useful to create some scenarios rather freely to account for the many routes they might take.
When I'm not running games I'm...
running games at a local escape room, studying cognitive sciences or writing yet another Homebrew.
How Jannis runs games
I like to give my players a very lose leash in order for them to discover the world I created or picked up. If I am asked however I will also give options how to progress the story. Good roleplaying is always welcome and I love the theatrics of some players. Specize descriptions I also like to reward. A critical strice to an unarmored limp might cut it of entirely. Asside from that I like to homebrew a lot. So if asked I can and might write you an entire subclass we can playtest together. I do also have some fun own creations in hand that might spice things up.

I prep by
preping my toolbox. I rather bring a toolbox and materials then full planed out structures. These I only plan if it is set in stone that players will see them.
My favorite trope is...
critical fails will always fail spectacularly :)
My games focus on...
exploration. There is always some information hidden and it is advisable to keep notes.
Jannis's ideal table

I love it when a player
immeses themselves into a character. Maybe prepare a special voice or pattern of speaking. Dressing up would also be rewarded but I don't expect it to happen.
I think min/maxing...
is okay, but expect to play Souls-like Encounters if you drive it to far. I want to give everyone a chance to shine and that will be yours, enjoy. O:)
My table is not the place for...
murdering NPCs. You will not get anything out of it if it was unasked for. Yes, fighting your way out is sometimes a reasonable approach, but killing shopkeepers left and right will bring you in trouble.
