About David

Looking for a DM who loves unexpected player ideas and ensures everyone has spotlight time? I've been crafting collaborative adventures for nearly three decades, starting in my friend's basement with a secondhand copy of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. Back then, our adventures were simple affairs lifted straight from fantasy novels and 80s movies, but they felt meaningful because we crafted the story together. I quickly gravitated toward running games, becoming a Dungeon Master for my friends and curious neighborhood kids. New players have always been a favorite of mine. I love watching people realize that tabletop games are limited only by imagination, not programmed actions like a video game. Now I create adventures that lean into what excites each group most. The best part of this hobby is weaving stories none of us could have created alone.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

engaging, dynamic, and supportive!

When I'm not running games I'm...

spending time hanging out with my wife and pets, going on long walks in the countryside, and practicing silly voices in the car.

How David runs games

In my games, you'll step into living, breathing worlds where your choices drive the story forward. I specialize in creating problems with multiple solutions - and my favorite moments happen when players surprise me with approaches I never saw coming. You won't just fight monsters; you'll face meaningful dilemmas that make you think. Maybe you'll need to choose between helping a desperate village or pursuing your own goals. These moments reveal who your character truly is and create the kind of stories you'll remember long after the session ends. I bring every NPC to life with distinct voices and personalities, but the real magic happens when you describe your character's actions and thoughts. I see myself as your partner in creating something amazing together, not an obstacle to overcome. Whether the moment calls for tension-filled drama or lighthearted banter, I read the table and support whatever feels most engaging for the group. Everyone gets their time to shine - no one sits on the sidelines. My goal is simple: I want you to have at least one moment each session where you completely become your character. That feeling of truly inhabiting someone else's story is what keeps players coming back, and it's what I'm passionate about creating at every table.

I once ran a session...

where the final boss was defeated by a glue jar a player had carried since our very first session a year and a half earlier. He'd taken it from a kobold and dubbed it his "fickle stone" after it once backfired and got him stuck in glue. When he announced "I throw my fickle stone!" I was baffled.

Rules are...

there to surprise us, creating the mix of triumph and setback that makes stories worth telling!

When it comes to voices

I create memorable voices and speech mannerisms for the characters players enjoy most. I love when players get in on the action too! It's not about perfect accents - sometimes just a catchphrase or unique speaking style is enough to bring a character to life.
