About Ryan Engelman
Hi I'm Ryan! I've been playing and Gming tabletop RPGs since 2015 when my buddy in college showed me 5e and it was all over. Always down to run a game as I always wanted to play so I donned the forever GM hat with pride. I love telling a story with everyone and with my theatre degree and passion for improv and games I can keep up with the best of them when it comes to wild ideas. I am a rule-of-cool first-structure-it-later kind of GM. Let's dance with what's possible and if we all survive the encounter, all the better. I know 5e by heart but I love exploring all kinds of systems to see what is out there and get ideas for homebrew mechanics to throw in anywhere. I am a no-nonsense about comfort levels so if anyone has anything they suddenly are not comfortable with in a game everything stops and we shift the narrative so that never happens again. I'm a goof at heart so I can monologue a villian or just be a little guy. Looking forward to everyone I get to meet and play with!

How Ryan Engelman runs games
I love to whip up a scene and drop players into exciting moments from the start of a campaign or one-shot. Momentum for characters comes from what the players feel in that moment and what they've thought about. I love deep roleplay sessions and get giddy about designing complex or interesting combat encounters. I reward all manner of solving encounters and leave nothing I make as precious. It is the world the players live in and if they feel that they had fun and made an impact in the story I am over the moon! In the years I've lived as a player I've found that moments of peace and quiet only work if the players say they'd like to talk to one another. I can't force role play but I can give them the gifts they want see from their game with balance. So if everyone wants to be badasses and feel out who they are in the meantime it always comes together. Really I like to ask my players what they want in a session 0 usually or just ask them in a quick message what they want. Then I mash together something that let's the players shine in the role they want to embody. I will also crack more jokes than is legal.
