About Brian Eckels
I've been a dating coach for the last few years, but have been a DM even longer (10 years). What started as a friend recommended DnD to me with a starter campaign, became a passion. Stranger Things showed me how much fun this game could be as I never successfully got to play during high school. I did get to play the Sailor Moon TTRPG with my grandmother though. I've come a long way since then, with DnD, World of Darkness, and even some other TTRPG's like Candela Obscura, Anime 5E, and now, Daggerheart. I LOVE TTRPG's more than I love video games now, and that's saying a LOT. I believe that they can be a form of therapy, but also a form on connecting with new friends. I've ran several campaigns over the last 5 years, and now have branched out into professional DM'ing, because I believe that if one has a passion for something, they can create worlds, and even beautiful works of art. For me, this goes beyond just a world build though. I not only craft my own worlds, but I write novels surrounding them. For me, this is a true calling to be a hero.

How Brian Eckels runs games
I am the type of GM/DM/Storyteller that LOVES players showing up in cosplay. I love total immersion, so this includes music, roleplaying, and what I call cinematic campaigning. This means that during battle (DnD only), I might call for an enemy to attack AGAIN, or a player to go ahead and do something dramatic, breaking the initiative to make the story improve. After all, who likes sitting around waiting on their turn to happen? I love high stakes combat, and I can be a deadly DM at times, but for newer players, I like to play casually and just take my time walking you through the stats and how everything works. Once I feel you have tested the waters enough, I start to ramp up the game. I don't always use maps either, because DnD was created as a theater of the mind. I might rough sketch things to show where things are but don't expect maps all the time. But above all, I am the type of DM where I want my players to feel like a family. I want them to get along, (NO DRAMA except for the RP drama when you all talk and agree on it it), and I expect mutual respect and non-judgement of any kind. One final thing is I am NOT the type of DM that once you're dead, you're gone. I allow a certain rule that lets players create a new character and jump back in if they wish, but that too is limited. Anymore questions, just ask me.
