About Russ

My name is Russ, I was a city bus driver until recently. I started gaming in high school with 1st ed. D&D. In college I played 2nd ed. D&D along with Gurps, Star Wars and Axis & Allies. I took on the roll of DM from 95-00. Right before graduation we were playing 3.5 D&D. I have played D&D off and on my whole life. Around 2015 I started learning 5th ed. D&D and have played a few times. I have played BG3 for the last 2 years (over 2000hrs) and I have a BG3 youtube channel (Elder Archer 2112). I started working on a campaign in the late 90's and finally finished it around 2020. I ran a part of my campaign a couple of times 2 years ago but they didn't like 2nd ed. so we quit. I have been working on converting it to 5th ed. cuz the game has evolved and I need to evolve with it lol!

When I'm not running my campaign I am playing Baldur's Gate 3 for my YouTube channel (Elder Archer 2112). Being retired I can focus on what I enjoy!

How Russ runs games

I like to mix the role-play with combat. Create ethical dilemmas when possible. Have side adventures along with the main adventure, my world is built, the adventures are created. Some will be hard, some will be easy. I hope they will enjoy it!

In 1st ed. dnd Gygax and company said basically "here are the rules of dnd, they are a guideline, make the game your own". So if there are different interpretations of a rule then we can discuss it and vote on which interpretation to use.

I like a group of players who are Heroic, team players. I'm not a fan of evil characters, lone wolf players, or fringe classes. I hope your game experience is fun and thoughtful.

is creative with spells! Once I had a major villain die when a player cast rock to mud on the cavern ceiling lol I was so surprised I just laughed, we had fun with that for a while.
