About Luxiba

Hi! My name is Sebastian, I'm a philosophy student from mexico, I particularly love aesthetics, but honestly, I just love arguing about useless stuff. My whole thesis is about TTRPG's as a new performing art! I have a some writting experience, both creative and academic. From some questionable fanfics when I was younger, a published children's short story, and some literary analysis. I've been running and playing D&D and other TTRPG's since I was 8 years old. I've run countless sessions in westmarches and have a constant weekly game.

I became a GM because

My dad also loved TTRPGs, so I have always been playing. And as soon as I could read the rule books, I tried my hand at running games, and I just fell in love with it.

My favorite books are

I really like to read, and I don’t think I could pick a favourite book. I have a soft spot for Macbeth, as it was the first play I ever read, and it is a masterpiece. But I also really love mystery novels, from Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie and Dashiell Hammett. I also love Borges, he is the best.

People are always surprised when I tell them

I love esoteric stuff! I have a bunch of books on alchemy, spellcrafting from different cultures, and in uni I made a quick buck reading Tarot cards.

How Luxiba runs games

I really like to use my background in literature and philosophy when it comes to playing. Sessions should be goofy and fun, but they should also be meaningful and impactful. I strive to find a balance where everybody can have fun, and we can build a safe space to explore some heavier themes that can actually impact players and give some really memorable RP. By that same standard I like to have a healthy balance between the tactical aspect of an TTRPG, and the story telling. Combat should never feel like a chore that bogs down the game, but it also shouldn't be so trivial as to be meaningless. I think theory crafting and optimizing builds can be really fun, and everybody needs a chance to flex those muscles. So if you're looking for a complex world with various shades of grey, that will challenge, engage ,and hopefully, make you feel something. Please check out my games!

I once ran a session...

Were after month of tracking down her sister, Ymir (a PC) died in a grueling combat defending her. Everybody at the table cried, and a player made fan art in Ymir's memory. I also like to run coyote cookoff sessions where players are turned to coyotes and must describe how they cook something.

My games focus on...

I want to tell a story where everyone is involved, a character can minmax with no problem, but it must be with a purpose. I want the world to feel real and alive, so that they can really impact the players, and with that end in mind, my games are usually heavier on rp

Luxiba's ideal table

I love having both goofy moments and heavy rp sessions that challenge my players. These are games, and they should be enjoyed as such. I strive to have a table with a chill vibe where we’re all friends that can goof around and have an all around good time. But that will also have some serious moments with unforgettable rp.

I love it when a player

I love when a player comes up with a new and creative idea for their character, and how they fit into the world. Something to challenge themselves and me to tell an interesting story.

I think min/maxing...

I love it! theorycraft your perfect and unkillable god, I am here for it, and the goofier, the better. However, keep in mind two things: The game is not zero-sum, do not strive to be the best just to keep others down. The challenge is proportional to the characters.

My table is not the place for...

Should go without saying, no racism, misogyny or being demeaning towards others. This is not a zero sum game, we’re all here to have a good time together, have fun and tell a story together. There can and will be conflict. But the character should never wound the player.
