About Joshua
I'm a lifelong D&D player with over 10 years of experience, and a little north of more than 8 years behind the DM screen. My passion lies in storytelling; crafting immersive, character-driven narratives that evolve with your choices and leave a lasting impact. I lean more towards grimdark and high fantasy themed adventures. My worlds are rich with lore, moral complexity, ancient secrets, and dangerous beauty. Choices have consequences, but there’s always space for hope, heroism, and redemption. Tone and vibe are everything. I run games in Roll20 and slowly learning Foundry VTT, enhanced by a custom playlist curated to immerse players in each scene. From tense dungeon crawls to sweeping political drama. I focus on emotional engagement, cinematic pacing, and a world that feels truly alive. Whether you're brand new to D&D or a seasoned player, you'll find a welcoming, story-first environment at my table. If you love layered characters, meaningful choices, and adventures that go deeper than dice rolls. Let’s tell an unforgettable story together.

I became a GM because
Back when I played Gensō Suikoden, I’d make up my own storylines for the PCs, sometimes forgetting which ones were real. Once I found D&D, I knew I wanted to be the one behind the screen, weaving the stories from day one.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Interactive, understanding, and aware.
When I'm not running games I'm...
I’m chasing my 4 daughters, wrangling my son, or spending time with my lovely wife. I sneak in games or the occasional stream when I can. Big Eagles fan (Go Birds 🦅)... so yes, I can handle the heckling, tough love, and brotherly love.
How Joshua runs games
In my games, you can expect deep roleplay, immersive storytelling, and a strong focus on character development. I build campaigns where your choices shape the world, and your character’s arc truly matters. I lean into grimdark and high fantasy, weaving in mystery, moral tension, and ancient forces that challenge your party’s ideals as much as their strength. I use Roll20 (learning Foundry VTT) and curated music to create a cinematic tone and atmosphere. Whether you're sneaking through haunted ruins or debating with nobles in a torchlit council chamber. Combat in my games is tactical and high-stakes, but always in service to the story. Every encounter is grounded in the world, shaped by the narrative, and meant to feel like a turning point; not just a numbers game. Above all, I prioritize tone, emotion, and player agency. My games are about living through a great story together, not just rolling dice. If you're looking for a campaign that blends drama, darkness, and heart. I’ve got a seat ready for you.

I deal with rules issues by...
Having both sides roll a d20. Highest roll wins the ruling for now. After the session, we look it up and set the rule going forward. If the table prefers the original call, it becomes a house rule. Momentum > manuals.
My favorite trope is...
rule of cool. We are here to be heroes or villains. Escape the reality.
My games focus on...
Choices that matter. You can headbutt the guard captain... just be ready for what comes next. I love character driven stories where your decisions shape the world and your journey means something.
Joshua's ideal table
What’s my table like? There’s space for everyone... new players, roleplayers, dice goblins, tacticians, and chaos gremlins alike. Session Zero is key: it’s where we set expectations and shape the kind of campaign you want to play. What kind of players fit in? All are welcome! Except the "always right" peeps who kills the vibe. If you’re open-minded, here to build something cool together, and want to keep the fun moving forward, you’ll fit right in. What’s the general vibe? Chill, collaborative, and fun. We’re here to build bonds, share a story, and escape the grind, not add to it. No stress, no ego - just dice, only kind of drama is nailing that d20 charisma roll if that pick up line hits on the green dragon (not just a bard thing...), and a good time.

I think min/maxing...
Welcomed! As long it doesn't make you the main character. We all want our main character moments but the whole campaign shouldn't revolve around one person.
My perfect party mix is
People who just want to have fun. Cliche... but it is true. I'll take 5 new players who are having fun killing rats over 5 bullies who are just trying to one-up each other and belittle each other killing a sick dragon I built any day. We are here to have fun.
My table is not the place for...
Bullies and people whom belittle others. We use this as an escape. Want to take that away from someone quickly. Insult them in a made up world. Just be cool.
