About Christopher
Check out Chris Knox's games he runs at local conventions along with his partner Cat: https://www.thereturnofymir.com/ IG: @the.return.of.ymir Knox is a (happily) forever-DM , a member of the 2nd generation of the Old Guard, and as he is fond of saying, a “retired war gamer”. He is extremely ancient having started playing D&D Basic way back in 1986... When not gaming at home, Knox brings his love of crafting from war gaming to the expressive and fantastical world of RPGs, giving many players a type of immersive gameplay they’ve never experienced. Knox is very-very tall and weighs about four metric tons, with his boot prints being the size of Belgium. When he was but a wee infant, Knox was abandoned on a the door steps of an old Gaelic church, near the End of the World, by a pair of fomorians. Knox’s RPG experience ranges from DnD, GURPS, Earthdawn, Rifts, Shadowdark, Mörk Borg, Elric, CoC, L5R and countless others to numerous to name. If there is a game you are interested in feel free to message me about. Odds are I already have it on my shelf.

I got started GMing...
...when I was seven years old, but I was tall and no one knew how young I was. I started DMing at conventions in Los Angeles when I was thirteen, which again, I was tall and people thought I was in my twenties... Now, I am ancient beyond all reckoning and people think I am in my mid thirties...
My favorite books are
The Discworld Series (Anything sent in Ankh-Moorpork), The Complete Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Elric / Stormbringer / Moorcock
My favorite shows/movies are
Pulp Fiction, The Matrix, Clue
How Christopher runs games
What is my style? My style is less about 'how' and more about goals, not the goal of winning per say, but instead... to have fun. I am here for you to be invigorated, intrigued and stimulated. I want to present you with informed, meaningful choices; be it your position on the battlefield, which NPC you align yourself with, which path to take, or even something as simple as what to buy at a shop. If all my players are 'happily' chatting away, about what to do next, or what everyone's thoughts are on a recent discovery, then I know I have done my job. You will see me happily sitting there. I try to my best to avoid "filler" content. Also, with meaningful choice comes meaningful consequences. When failure does happen, I prefer multiple fail states. Why die if the PCs could be captured or recover with a cool scar? "It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not weakness, that is life." - Jean-Luc Picard. Ultimately, my style is about you having fun. In the words of Matt Colville, "If you had fun, I had fun." Some other people's thoughts on style: Picaso said, "He [God] invented the giraffe, the elephant, and the cat. He has no real style. He just goes on trying other things." Bruce Lee often referred to his style as the "style of no style". Never be bound to a rigid style. Musashi said, "You can win with a long weapon, and yet you can also win with a short weapon... [it] is the spirit of winning, whatever the weapon and whatever its size." CK

I prep by
Procrastinate & then power prep the day of. Why do I feel so called out by all these prompts, but seriously... the secret is handwritten notes. Study after study has shown that nothing makes info stick in the brain like a hand written notes... even a string of handwritten bullet points is magic ;)
My games focus on...
Classism, comedy, breakage, anxiety, violence, reward, consumption, dread, and romance!!
Christopher's ideal table
My table is alot of fun. I try to make it a good place for everyboy. Players who will be happiest at my table are ones who are BOTH good listeners AND enjoy having lots of AGENCY.
