About Alex McMath (Raistlyn_Creepypastas)

I’m a big nerd. I’m a fan of MTG, D&D, JRPGs, ad cooking. One of those isn’t like the others, but it’s something I’m also passionate about!

I got started GMing...

During COVID, when the TTRPG community hit a demand for more games to pass the time. I started running for a group of friends, and have loved it ever since, and have constantly been running games ever since!

My favorite books are

Lord of The Rings, the Lyorn series by Steven Brust, and Harry Potter.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Playing video games, like Satisfactory.

How Alex McMath (Raistlyn_Creepypastas) runs games

I prefer high tactile combat to challenge my players, as well as dungeon crawls.

I deal with rules issues by...

I make a ruling on the fly with a “we will look into this later,” and tweak the narrative if need be.

My games focus on...

Combat, more than anything. I like roleplay, but combat is where I always fall back to.

Rules are...

A big deal at my tables. If we do t have rules, what do we have?

Alex McMath (Raistlyn_Creepypastas)'s ideal table

I try and keep my table chill, but focused. After all, it’s your time, at the end of the day. As long as we are all goal oriented, a little distraction every now And then is fine. One thing I do not tolerate is discussion odd religion, politics, or things of that nature. We are here to have a good time and forget things going on in the world, not bring them into our fantasy escape.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Combat. Short and sweet. I love running difficult combat encounters to really push my players.

I think metagaming...

Is inevitable. It will happen at some point. If it does, start blocks may change. After all, they’re only templates.

I think min/maxing...

Is perfectly fine, as long as the table is okay with it. As long as everyone has fun with it, that’s all that matters.
