About Marcus

Hello! I’m Marcus, a UK-based professional Game Master and musician specialising in long-form tabletop RPG campaigns. Over the past five years, I have developed several detailed homebrew settings designed to support rich, character driven stories and immersive worldbuilding. My background in music and film production strongly influences how I run games. I aim to create cinematic, thematic experiences that combine atmosphere, pacing, and narrative depth. Collaboration is at the heart of my tables. I work closely with players to weave their characters into the world so that their choices meaningfully shape the story. I have been playing and running tabletop RPGs since 2018, primarily in Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. My games focus on strong storytelling, memorable roleplay, and engaging decision making. Players can expect sessions that balance drama, humour, tension, and impactful moments that feel earned through play. Creating an inclusive and welcoming environment is extremely important to me. I strive to ensure that every player feels comfortable, respected, and able to explore their character’s story within a supportive table. Ultimately, my goal is to deliver games that stay with players long after the session ends, stories filled with laughter, suspense, emotional highs, and unforgettable adventures shaped by the group. 🏳‍🌈LGBTQIA+ Friendly and Beginners welcome. Happy to teach and assist any way I can. 📧If you have any questions or would like to join a campaign, feel free to reach out. I’d love to roll some dice together.📧

I became a GM because

I wanted to explore creative writing, and tabletop games became the perfect outlet for it. Building new worlds and telling stories alongside my players is incredibly rewarding and truly satisfies my creative drive.

My favorite shows/movies are

My all time personal favourite movies are Baby Driver, Shaun of The Dead, and WALL-E

When I'm not running games I'm...

Playing video games, making music or jamming, and making more stories for my players to enjoy.

How Marcus runs games

I enjoy running a balanced mix of combat and roleplay. In combat, I aim for encounters that are tactical and engaging, keeping players on their toes while remaining fair and true to the intentions of the enemies they face. During roleplay, I use a range of character voices to bring NPCs to life. I’m no professional voice actor, but I do my best to make each character feel distinct and to keep players immersed in the unfolding story.

My games focus on...

An engaging, interwoven story to truly sink your teeth into, plenty of satisfying combat that can be both thrilling and challenging, and above all, a strong focus on making sure everyone at the table is having fun, because that’s what it’s all about.

Rules are...

Rules are important guidelines, but they aren’t always the best path to a great moment. I enjoy embracing the rule of cool and giving your characters opportunities to shine in their own unique ways.

When it comes to voices

I’m certainly no voice actor (though I wish I were), but I do my best to give each NPC a distinct voice and personality to help bring them to life.

Marcus's ideal table

My ideal table is made up of players who are excited to meet me halfway in weaving their characters into the world. For me, DMing isn’t like designing a video game; it’s collaborative worldbuilding, with me guiding the journey at the helm. I tend to enjoy stories with serious themes and meaningful narratives, though there’s always plenty of room for laughter at the table.

I love it when a player

Keeps notes and draws on past information to tackle challenges. I like to scatter small clues and useful details throughout the game, and it’s always great to see players pick up on them and put them to good use.

I think it's a red flag when players...

Initiating PvP without everyone’s consent. While moments of narrative conflict can be compelling, they can also quickly create tension and disrupt the table if not agreed upon by everyone involved.

I think metagaming...

It can sometimes be difficult to avoid (we’re all human, after all), and it often happens unintentionally. That said, I encourage players to minimise metagaming, as imperfect choices and limited knowledge often lead to the most memorable stories.
