About Cody Powell
I have been running games for a little over 20 years now. I played my first game of D&D at 13, and by 15 I began GM-ing my first group. I've played Dungeons & Dragons in every edition, Shadowrun, Pathfinder, Mutants & Masterminds, Pokemon United, and a dozen other systems. I'm not including the handful on my bookshelf that I'm sure I'll get to "one day". I've even built a couple systems myself and play tested those for a while. In my free time I enjoy creative writing, sketching, and reading. I have a background in stage theater as well and have spent time on a professional level dealing in negotiations and mediation. I enjoy horror movies, classic rpgs, and have a few anime I'm a diehard for.

I ran my first game...
When I was 15, and I fell in love right away and never looked back
My favorite books are
currently the Dungeon Crawler Carl series, though I typically prefer reading philosophy or high fantasy.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Clever, Knowledgeable, & Fun-Loving
How Cody Powell runs games
-Lots of laughs. I'm just the type that can't help but wisecrack, and I've noticed it can be a contagious trait. -I don't fudge the dice. I still roll secretly so that I can add some suspenseful drama, but I'm a firm believer that the best ttrpg stories come from the most unfortunately timed bad rolls. -My players would likely tell you that my best quality as a GM would be my roleplay. I would tell you however that my real passion is for combat and action sequences.

I deal with rules issues by...
Making a determination at the moment and either ask a player to help by looking it up, or wait until the scene flow slows down and check the rules myself
I prep by
Listening to music and painting upcoming scenes and possibilities in my mind Day of session I read over my material to refresh, set up maps, and put some notes together an hour or so before
When it comes to voices
They're just plain fun
Cody Powell's ideal table
My table enjoys watching the story unfold but is excited to participate in it as well. We're all there to have fun, do some character improv, have exciting combat encounters, and get the opportunity to be a part of each campaign unfold in its own unique way.

Positive and Friendly
I love it when a player
Gets creative with their character design and delves into how the story makes their character feel
I think metagaming...
Inevitable but not ideal. A good tool but a terrible master.
